  • Shows seen so far - Lance Burton, Zumaniti, Mystere and The Lion King. Guys trust me on this, 3 of the shows mentioned are good but not great. The great ones are O, La Reve and Ka BUT the highlight of the pack is The Lion King - OH MY GOD - Absolutely stunning experience - if you like the movie, you will not be disappointed. If the show was being played in the UK, id immediately book tickets to watch it again - it is really that good!!

I think the Lion King has been playing in London for the last ten years or so.
Everyone to their own, I was falling asleep whilst watching it.
  • Hoping to stay at IP next september, about a dozen of us going, but staggered over a few days.
Works out that my group is a group of 3 guys, can you get a cheap room for 3 people on the strip?

Re The Lion King, it didn't hold my attention and I fell asleep almost as soon as it started. OH wasn't enjoying it and we left after 45 mins.

OH doesn't like the sound in that theatre, it was the same when Mamma Mia was there, so I doubt we would go to another show there.

The IP is the cheapest place you can stay centre strip. I have seen room rates as low as $15, but you would typically expect to pay around $40.

You can ask for a room with 2 queen beds and a rollaway, but expect to pay an additional $30/night for the additional person as rates are based on 1-2 people occupancy.

Not sure how long it's been in London, but we saw it 2 or 3 years ago...I really loved it, though I thought it was overly long...I was stunned that they were running the whole show in Vegas as they normally cut shows down to 90 mins.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    Hello all

I am quite new to these boards, but I have read this thread from start to finish (over a number of days).

Planning a trip to Vegas & New York in May 2010. Departing Tues 11th May to Las Vegas and leaving Thurs 20th and onto New York, returning Tues 25th.

Anyhoo...my first question is....have I been too hasty? I saw *what I thought was a baragin* deal on lastminute.com via a link on Trip Advisor for MGM Grand half price. I booked a Celebrity Spa Suite for £620 for 9 nights....I am now worried that I went in without thinking, caught in the moment. Is this a good deal? Has anyone stayed in the Celebrity Spa Suite & is it worth it?

I have read that the $20 trick doesn't normally work well with the MGM, but we really want a room overlooking the strip (who doesn't!) and a room on a higher floor. Is it worth trying for an "upgrade"? Will I just be laughed/scoffed at? Or are the Celeb Spa Suites already on decent floor with strip views, seeing as the room is an upgrade in itself?

Secondly flights....have checked the normals, Expedia, lastminute.com & Kayak. Cheapest I can find is Kayak, which is offering £416 for the multi trip. On way out stopping by Atlanta and then through to LV, this is with Delta. Anyway, have just gone on Delta's website to check prices there and they seem similar...however when checking the inflight entertainment, it says nothing for the leg between LHR - ATL & ATL - LAS !!! The trip from LAS - JFK and from JFK - LHR it says there are movies. Is this right? No tv's, entertainment flying out? This would seriously put me off and I would think about changing airline. Has anyone flown with Delta and can anyone shed further light? The flight is number 9 Boeing 767-400ER for LHR to ATL and number 1093 Boeing 767-300ER for ATL to LAS.

Also, does £416 pp sound reasonable for a multi stop trip?

Any help/advice appreciated and thanks in advance!

Vegas show is 90 minutes and despite the -ve comments, the show was brilliant - the only thing I can put this down to is that the acting in London may be cack compared to the Vegas cast.

And, who just won another Poker tournament??? Ohhhh shhhhheeeeeeeet ba ba baby!

£620 for 9 nights = a average nightly rate of $110 . If it is booked and cannot be cancelled without penalty , then move on , it does not matter if we think it is a good deal now . if you could cancel it , then keep it for now and see what better deal you can find nearer the time .

they won't laugh at you , they will just politely give you your cash back if they are unable to help you. and there is no harm what so ever in asking outright ( without $20 ) . they are very used to it and would be more surprised if you didn't ask for what you wanted .

Not flown Delta , but £416 each sounds very reasonable to me

Yes there is IFE on Delta. According to Seat Guru there are seatback TV's on the LHR-ATL route with AVOD and overhead screens on the ATL-LAS.

    http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Delta_Airlines/information.php

You will need your own headphones with a double pronged plug on the domestic route.

How odd - everything I have read said it was the full show in Vegas - 2:30 or so...if it's only 90 minutes, it must have been cut down dramatically from the original production. I'm pretty sure the folks here who have commented (other than me) saw the show in Vegas. Show reviews are very relative - I liked it, you liked it, others not so much. Just the way it is.
