December ( including Xmas and New Year )We have been twice on Christmas day. You WILL wait for at least 2 hours in a buffet queue.(unless you eat at 11am) We booked a meal at one of the restaurants in the Orleans, $25 each for 3 course Xmas dinner.Arrived at the appointed time and were seated straight away. All shows will be Dark (closed) All shops inside the casinos wil be open, nothing outside will be (maybe some restaurants
I just looked up my Trip Report from last year......shows are open Stoneman.....was just like every other day around the strip.Dec 25 – woke 5am.
VIP line again but at the Coke bottle this time – looked for Brits to give spare Copperfield ticket stub to. Booked expensive seats for KA at MGM. Went round NYNY while we were South Strip (the whole streets of New York thing is done very well) and went back for lunch at Grand Lux. Been checking the room bill, and they’re giving us more than the $50 a day – seems closer to $70 as we only got a small charge when we had two meals in a day there, and nothing for a decent evening meal or lunch in a $$$ restaurant. Poker again 2pm – lost allin to…….a royal flush…..first time I’ve seen one in real play…..cant complain I spose.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
October , NovemberTropicana deal:
Stay on The Strip at Tropicana Las Vegas for $29 per night and receive $20 in daily slot play. Weekends are only $50 per night and include a $50 slot play credit, per day. Travel is valid through January.
This is an unbelievable special, as weekend rates on The Strip are rarely less than $100.
The legendary Tropicana is located on the corner of the city's most popular intersection -- Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue. The hotel boasts five restaurants and three pools with cascading waterfalls.
Blackout Dates: Nov. 26-28; Dec. 5, 28-31; Jan. 1-2, 7-9, 15-17

I'm not a massive fan of the casino, but for $9/night weeknights after the slot credit deduction, sounds like it could be a good deal for some.
Edited to add - thinking about it, it may be worth checking that it's actually slot credit on normal machines and not on the promotional machines that you rarely win anything on...it would be sneaky if it were promo machines, but may be worth checking.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

I think it used to be the case that most shows were dark over Christmas - I know it was when we first started going...but we have a colleague who's going over Christmas this year and we were surprised how many of the shows she was looking at were selling tickets.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
December ( including Xmas and New Year ).......and free per night for the second deal.
The photos on their site make the rooms look very "dated".....even for the upgraded rooms.Tropicana deal:

Doh- right you are...I read that as $50 slot credit per stay for the weekend nights, not per day like the week nights...and it does look like the $29/night rooms are the garden rooms, which I've not heard great things about. It's probably not a place we would opt to stay, but I suppose for free or nearly free it might be something some might consider.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
SeptemberI just looked up my Trip Report from last year......shows are open Stoneman.....was just like every other day around the strip. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

SeptemberNovember 22, 2009 Celine Returning?: We've heard a rumor on the grapevine that Ms. Dion may be returning for a limited engagement at Caesars' Colosseum. Nothing definite yet, but it's the only word so far on who might fill the gap after Bette Midler's depature and during Cher's hiatus.0

December ( including Xmas and New Year )I thought she was trying the IVF treatment again after the last one failed a couple of months ago.0

I can't take these static shocks anymore....they are a motherf&^&er!!! - You will NOT be able to avoid them so BE PREPARED!
Just won my first poker tournament and got paid out a nice juicy $374.
Next stop Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour - cost us $596 for 2 people with Papillon. We went for the "Grand Celebration Tour with Vegas Strip" and boy have we got a bargain - We were originally booked in for Thusday afternoon but for some reason our confirmation said Thursday AM!! I called up and asked them to check the booking and as suspected, they made an error. To make matters worse, they were fully booked up on Thursday afternoon!!
As an apology, they said they could book us in for Friday afternoon (our last night in Vegas) and will upgrade us to a better helicopter AND pick us up in a Limousine instead of a Shuttle Bus!! WOOOHOO BOOYA CHA CHA CHING! It'll be a nice way to end a good vacation.
Shows seen so far - Lance Burton, Zumaniti, Mystere and The Lion King. Guys trust me on this, 3 of the shows mentioned are good but not great. The great ones are O, La Reve and Ka BUT the highlight of the pack is The Lion King - OH MY GOD - Absolutely stunning experience - if you like the movie, you will not be disappointed. If the show was being played in the UK, id immediately book tickets to watch it again - it is really that good!!
Now i've been a little naughty and recorded the opening act "The Circle of Life" scene. I'll post the video on YouTube when I return but believe me when I say this, the opening does not do it any justice - the remaining show, cast, direction, music, and acting is truly our of this world. I have a feeling I'll get slapped on the wrist for posting the vid on YT but ohh well!
Also went to Madamme Tussauds today ($20 per adult). It's well worth going to take some awesome holiday snaps.0
