Sorry, didn't see Claire's post before I replied.

Don't forget the coupon for $2 off the Tix4Tonight service charge.

We did the Titanic exhibit when it was in Cincinnati - we really enjoyed it - it's quite touching and sad to see some of the artifacts they have brought up...and I won't spoil it for you if you haven't read one way they make it a bit more personal. It's worth doing for 1/2 price certainly.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Thanks claire, still a few more days to go...so here I am with the next one.

    Day 9

We went to Death Valley today. We started with breakfast at Flamingo once again, it being local, and we made up some bagels to take along with some fruit so we had some food in case we couldn't find anything.

We set off quite early and headed North West (I think), we didn't stop at any of the viewing areas on the way and headed straight for Badwater. It wasn't as hot as I was expecting, maybe because of the temperature in Vegas or maybe because we didn't spend too much time out of the car. OH said it wasn't as hot as when he had been there before.

We then took the same route out and headed for a ghost town. I can't tell you roads or place names as I haven't got anything to remind me. The ghost town was advertised in a tourist guide or something that we had and we both fancied a look. It is not preservered or anything, some of it is fenced off but that didn't stop one guy who was clambering over everything to get a look. It is not manned so there was no one there to stop him. We then stoppped for our attempt at a picnic (in the car) and watched the cars come in the same direction we just had. We then gradually made our way back to Vegas on a different route going near an Air Force test area (someone may know where I am now).

That evening we had tickets to go and see American Superstars, they do a deal at the Stratosphere for the show, dinner and a trip up the tower for $34.99 each, the only way you get it cheaper I believe is to stay there. It was good to go up the tower and see where we had driven that day. We then went to the buffet, Luci this was one of the worst, hence why we didn't think Flamingo was that bad.

American Superstars was ok, however one of the guys at Ballys had told us how amazing it was and how much they sounded like and in some cases were better than the originals. I definately wouldn't go so far as to say that, the show was ok, but unless you have the cheaper ticket and have transport to get to the Stratosphere or you are staying there then I wouldn't bother. If you are not there for as long as us, or you want to stay more mid-strip, then don't worry about making the trip up there.

Seeing as we were in the area and still had the car we decided to have a quick drive up towards Fremont Street to have a look. However you cant park so easily for free up there so we had a quick wander and then made our way back to our hotel.

    seems expensive otherwise.
    people thik its worth it?
dollar continues to do horrible things today. 1.64 end of trading

Is that at the Luxor now?
When it was at the Tropicana, you could buy tickets for that and the Bodies exibitition next door and get a $12 discount. I don't know if that applies now but it would be worth checking out. Tbh we didn't bother with the Titanic experience, but the Bodies experience is amazing and well worth the cost alone. (helps if your not squeamish though) ;)

I should also point out some customer service stuff about Flamingo as we checked out the following day. We had stayed in our room on the first night and then went out on the second day there. We popped back to the room around 5 and the room hadn't been made up, we called guest services to inform them. We said we were going out again so the room would be free for them to make up. When we returned from the Lion King around midnight it still hadn't been touched so we got on the phone again. they said they could bring fresh towels but could not make the room up until the morning.

The following morning we went to see the duty manager who was very helpful and offered to move our rooms, however as we were going out for the day and wouldn't be back until around 4 they wanted to store our bags. We managed to persuade them to let us keep the room and move when we returned. We had requested that we still kept a good view as our upgrade had given us.

When we returned they tried to give us a room facing the pool and only of the standard we had originally booked. My OH turned on his charm and asked if we could get an upgrade for the inconvenience, especially as ours had been a bit shabby in the first place. It worked and we got moved to a Go room. It was lovely, we were right opposite Ceasars Palace with a view over the fountains. We could also see the fountains at Bellagio so got a perfect view. The room is great so for anyone staying at the Flamingo, if you can afford the Go room then it is definately worth it.

Yes at the Luxor, I hope it is good, we didn't have time to visit it.

We had a Go room at Easter and loved it. This trip I um-ed and ah-ed over $40 for a deluxe versus $70 for a Go room but in the end decided it would be too much of a drop and the plasma might placate the Teen-Ogre when I dumped him to go see Donny and Marie. Ironically Donny and Marie are in London 4 days before we fly out so looks like I might see the show twice in a week on two different continents.

Titianic is constantly at Tix4Tonight, but I noticed it was slightly cheaper during the week than at the weekend. Definitwly worth seeing.
