    Day 6

After our small but sufficient breakfast we started making our way back to Vegas, we decided to go back the same way so we could get pictures at the Dam, we arrived quite early without too much traffic behind us so we were able to pull off the road for a bit. After getting our pics we made our way back to Vegas.

We had the stupid idea of popping into Encore to see how much tickets for Beyonce would be $250 plus taxes, plus fees, needless to say we didn't bother. We were doing shows every night so we couldn't afford that on top.

We needed to pass a bit of time before we could check in so popped to one of the malls to have some lunch and have alook around the shops. We went to Orlando a few years ago and really liked what Old Navy had in stock, we were hoping we could get some cheap everyday clothes that were different to over here but unfortunately they didn't have anything. After lunch we made our way to Flamingo.

For some reason I thought I had seen that you could check in from 2, we got into a very long line and at the desk were told it was 4, lickily they let us check in anyway. The $20 trick worked again and we got a room on the top floor. The room was ok but the view was not so good. We had a view of the volcano at the Mirage which was ok but unfortunately we had a prime view of Imperial Palace too. We decided to stick with it all the same.

That evening we went to see X-Burlesque seeing as it was in the hotel we were staying at. I thought it was far better than Jubilee. When we got the tickets we were told it was free seating but when we queued up there was a VIP line. When we got to the front and went through the door te usher asked if we were happy with out seats or wanted to move. With a $20 tip we were moved to the front row. We didn't mind too much as we had got the tickets really cheapily at Tix4Tonight in Bill's that afternoon.

We were in a rush to get food that night and the experience wasn't great. No matter how easy you think it will be to get some food out of the shop at the front of the Flamingo DON'T or certainly not their sandwiches. Your money would be better spent on something else somewhere else.

I'm rather looking forward to my "stay" at the Imperial Palace to see for myself what it's like as reports are so mixed. The rest of the trip we're mainly at the Orleans (3 nights for $18 with $25 free food how could we not !) and the Flamingo then have booked into the IP for our last day as we leave at 11pm and for $15 it seemed silly not to have a room right up to when we leave for the airport- I'm thinking of not checking out in case we get a bump and fly the next morning instead.....

We are looking to stay at the IP also, and I am concerned about the reports I hear, however, generally expectations and experiences differ so i'll just see for myself.

All said and done, the location of the IP is why we are staying there and as we are flying out when a big fight is at MGM, flight prices have jumped up for direct flights.

Has anyone got any tips on sourcing a good pirice for the trip? We've worked out booking separately is slightly better than through Expedia. What would you guys suggest?

    Cheers guys.

I think the IP is just fine. It's not a luxury option, but it is clean and comfortable enough for us. I'll be spending a few weeks there in October/November on our next trip. You can't beat free or very cheap IMHO.

If it was a special holiday, then I'd go for more luxury, but then we couldn't afford to spend as long in Vegas. The longer the better for us.

This is it. We are going for a special holiday, but we'll be spending most of the time in other parts of The Strip, and take in the Canyon etc so where we sleep isn't the be all and end all.

Well I'm sure it will be fine. Have you looked at some of the room photos? They are OK IMHO.
