I discovered the other day after sending a bunch of covering letters that there was a glaring grammatical error in the third paragraph. Blunder. And I'd proofread them and spotted other mistakes. Fingers crossed it's overlooked!
I'm so cheesed off at the moment. I just feel totally lost and out of my depth with this job hunting malarky
*sigh*
Still, positive thoughts all round.
haha I am about to have a nervous breakdown! The HR person could not read the email so they asked me to send the attachments again. PHEW, haha!0 -
Phew! Now Louise, calm down and breath deeply...
Chica; don't be downhearted, just take it as a break from your other routine.
Bunnie; well done on the housework! And good luck for tomorrow's interview.
Cheers,

Weeks until Christmas - 7, yes, I'm already counting...0 -
Hey all,
Louise - I'm so sorry this has happened. That's really !!!!!!. I hope you get some really good news soon!
Bunnie - Well done for giving up a job you hate. Sanity is more important than money!! I always think that in a situation like this that if something feels right it probably is.
Chica - don't worry about mistakes. Everyone makes them. I sent out around 70 speculative applications a little while ago, and afterwards I found one mistake on my CV. It had been proofread by me and my advisor at Work Directions, but it's just easy to miss things. In fact, I was filling out another application a little while and remembered that one of the criteria was the same as something for another job I had applied for. I looked up that old application and couldn't understand it  These things will happen!
Well, I have an interview with an agency tomorrow, which I'm worried about since I don't have a clue where my GCSE certificates are. I have my degree one, so will hopefully be ok. And the worst they can do is say no. I also had a phone call earlier from an agency about a job I applied for yesterday (sometimes they actually do read these applications you make on reed online - who knew?). We had a brief chat and she said she'd be sending my application to the employer - maybe nothing will come of it, but at least they liked my application! They want someone in soon, and the fact that I'm available immediately might count in my favour.0 -
Thanks guys
Well its all sent away, and the recruiter called me and said they just want to give me a chance to explain my situation. I am actually really grateful because they just could have easily said "thanks but no thanks" but they are giving me another chance and they really dont have to. So, everything is not lost
Glad to hear that everyone is still keeping productive0 -
Hi guys, I got another interview next week for a callcentre (oh well, its better than a poke in the yee with a sharp stick), and the first half of the interview is a group interview followed by a one-to-one interview. I have never had a group interbiew before, so will have to do a bit of research as to what it needs me to do.0

Had my interview today, went really well and found out an hour ago they want to employ me and I start Monday.....if only all jobs were that easy0

Hey Louise, Have my fingers crossed for you.
Well done on getting that interview, medini. I've only had one group interview which wasn't a typical one. But I did get through to the next stage. One thing I think they really like is if you try to dry out the weaker candidates, and encourage them to participate/voice their opinions.
Bunnie, that's great news!
I had my appointment with the employment agency today. They seemed ok, but of course, they may never get back to me. I think they liked me, though. I was pretty surprised when I did the tests - my typing speed was 58 words a minutes! It was much higher than I expected.0 -
Hey everyone
A month or so ago I went for an interview, and although I got shortlisted to the final 2, I unfortunately lost out to an internal candidate. I was disappointed but so proud as this was the most difficult job with the highest salary I had ever went for. I got excellent feedback, and was told that they were impressed with me.
I got a phone call and they want to see me again, two managers from two different departments were impressed with the feedback!! So, im not sure if it is an actual interview or just an informal chat!
Also have an interview next week for the DWP!! Things are looking up again!
However, I am in a dilema. I know I need to be honest about the fact I did not pass my probation in my last job. Of course honesty is the best policy, but I hope that they like me enough to see past that. I wasn't let go for anything serious - I just could not reach some sales targets.
I feel I am never going to get another job because of it.0 -
Bunnie: well done! thats fabulous!
Medini: Good luck for your interview!
Louise: Excellent! How good is that! I think if they knew you weren't let go for anything bad you shouldnt have a problem. I hope it works out for you.
I'm feeling more optimistic, maybe its the sunshine. I sent an application yesterday that might have a chance of going somewhere and got given a contact that might help me find what i'm looking for.
Happy weekend! :j0 -
Thanks love!
Thats the thing - it was nothing bad I was let go for! I just couldnt meet some sales targets. I was the model employee - always doing unpaid overtime, was promoted 4 weeks before I was let go. I am just so angry that I am going to have to put "dismissed" down on any applications, which will make me look bad, since dismissed can cover anything.
I was thinking of putting "contract not extended during probation" - does that sound better than dismissed?0
