Hi P&F I was thinking about you today,they were talking about the Direct payments scheme on LBC. There was a woman talking to Jeni Barnet about them,saying that social services like to try and deny they exist/people are eligible for them.As so few people know about the scheme it is easy for SS to try and fob people off (this is what she said.) She was working and getting help with childcare thru the scheme as she is disabled,and said the payment of care affected no other benefits as in DLA.. Now,you get DLA-so there is no doubt you are disabled. I really think you need to look into this as this little bit of help with taking your DD to and from school would be such a huge weight off your shoulders. There's more about it here;

Thanks so much for that Suzi
Funnily enough, I was talking to one ofmy customers the other day who knows another mum with health problems, and some days she has to wait for her breathing to settle before she can take her dd to the same school my dd goes to. The school has been "nagging" her to stop being late occasionally, now another mum who is wheelchair bound can only collect her dd if she goes through the school because all external access to the playgrounds with wheelchair access have been shut off - all since the new head has taken over. So, Im not the only one to receive zilch understanding or acknowledgement. I will look up your link over the weekend. Yes, with regard to DLA, Im on it forever, so they are clear my disability wont go away. Im not making it up in other words! My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)

MissOptimistic wrote: »Hi Positive and focused - so how has this week panned out for you - it is teaming it down with rain here and we have had snow to deal with as well - that can't make life any easier for you when you spend your days outside.
What do you have planned for this weekend? Have a lovely time whatever you do!
Hi Miss O, well no snow here, but we have had a lot of rain. Time management wise, I could be doing better it has to be said. However, yesterday my dear mum needed a chat and I was on the phone to her for an hour, which as much as I love her set me back with work, and the result is in order to keep to my plan we need to do some work today. Not the end of the world, dd is somewhere for an hour today, so I will work while shes there, and then all we need to do is another hour together. That should do it.
Otherwise, I have paperwork, ironing, a bit of housework, we have a 1000 puzzle to do, so dd and I want to start on that. If its not raining tom, we will go to thebeach and while dd is on her scooter, we will have a little walk along the promenade. Have found an amazing foot product from Kl that I can put on my toes on my funny foot, and it prevents me feeling the pain when they scrunch up in my boot. I feel I can walk forever when Im wearing them, and wonder how I coped before with the pain! Hopefully, as a result of no pain, my limp will be not so noticeable, and I can work on improvingmy walking. Got a call from thephysio dept this week, they want to see me for my annual check with them, so will be able to show them what Im doing to help my walking improve, so the timing couldn't be better. My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)

Its Feb 6th, and less than a year since I started this diary. Have been taking stock of where I am to ensure I know I am doing well even if at times I dont feel that way. By keeping a spending diary which is ongoing, I have kept my outgoings to an all time low. Compared to what I used to pay out , it is fair to say our monthly budget is very low! So, the other thing is that I am not using any credit cards anymore. So, its between me and my Kl earnings and my debit card. This time last year, I just couldn't see how I would ever live without having to dip into a credit card for the odd expenditure. Its still early days, however Im feeling very confident that I can maintain an income that covers the outgoings, and indeed work on increasing the income so I can pay off debt quicker. Here inlies my next challenge, which I WILL achieve. I want to bring my dfd forward to before 2015.
Also, this is with having a sealed pot in which I am placing the odd £1 or £2 and I am not missing that.
So, there is hope! I need to put some books out today, and I have calls to prospects who I haven't been able to get hold of in the week. I know its Saturday, but on these odd weekend days where work is necessary, I only have to think of being df and I would happily work till midnight to ensure that date comes nearer so there will be weekends and indeed weeks to come where work wont feature at all, until that time my goal board and just knowing where this is all leading to - dfreedom - is enough for me to keep focused. {Plus, I can do my tel calls while dd is happily playing here, and then weplan to cuddle up and watch a film, and then start a puzzle. My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)

Re my eyes, the doc seems to think the weakness that has developed is related to my disability. Im going to get my glasses changed and go from there. S, a visit to the opticians is scheduled for today too.My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)

Of course there is - you have come a long way in a relatively short space of time - you are focused on what you can realistically achieve, and that is fundamental to your success - it is when we become unrealistic that we start to fail.

You have had a positive effect on me this week,P&f! I was inspired to do my own SOA and have decided to start paying towards 2 credit card debts that I was only paying minimal to.They are not huge which is why I wasn't really thinking about them (had pretty much forgotten them until I saw the DD's on my bank statement!). I have upped the payments and will also throw any extra I can at them at the end of each month,so thankyou for that. I am lucky to have fairly low levels of debt and a manageable mortgage (around £77,000) as I have a lot of equity in the house. I think this has made me lazy but I keep thinking how nice it would be to have no debt except my mortgage,so that's really focused me. I hope I can aslo get back to work of some description by the end of the summer, tho I would need to do a refresher course to go back to any of my old jobs (in nursing.) Your thread has really made me realise how lucky I am -you really are an inspiration!
As for the school head, I think they are all like that now. My son's school head regularly sends out guiltmail, stating how difficult it is for children to settle if they arrive late to class, how it disrupts the other children etc. That's all very well, but if noone is going to offer help and support to those who genuinely have problems like yourself, it smacks of being just talk-when you have a genuine problem what do they expect you to do? I have been lucky that my ex has made himself available to take my youngest to school since I had my op,otherwise I have no idea how I would have managed every day. He was away working in leeds last week, and as I am a few months on now I thought I would be fine. As I don't sleep the early mornings have really made me feel ill. I did get hime there on time every day but I think it will take me a couple of weeks to recover! Luckily his dad is going to take him again almost every day next week and I can try and catch up-I know how lucky I am to have that support and really feel for you.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -
Hi Suzi
Am glad to be of service! Thank you too for your help. Im just about to check out your link.
Hypno, thankyou for your wise words too. That is where I have "failed" in the past, making my goals unrealistic. Whereas now, Im learning to be kinder to myself, and consequently feeling like Im getting somewhere. Have paid off £5K offmy mortgage/secured loans over the past year, and that also makes me feel Im getting somewhere.
So, went to opticians yesterday. Just have to wait till next saturday to get my new glasses. To have my existing pair corrected would have cost £39. To have two new pairs fitted with new lenses cost just £39.20, so for the sake of 20p am having two pairs done. All new and sparkly!
Dd and I haven't started the puzzle yet, however I supervised her baking some fairy cakes today, and I have to say shes done a better job than me!! She did everything apart from putting them in and taking them out of the oven. Then she also prepared the green beans for lunch - under supervision of course. She is such a star for 7 years of age. So, onward and upward, a new week awaits. Im all upstraight with preparing for it. Just need to execute my action plan and get the results in that I need.My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)

Things are sounding good, PaF!
It also sounds like DD will be a tremendous cook. Just make sure that she can do savoury stuff as well before she leaves home: when I went to uni I could not BELIEVE the number of people who had literally no idea how to cook.
