Milkmen - They can be cheaper

We get thru about 2 pints a week so buy from supermarket. My mum buys from the milkman as she likes to support the local business. However, she used UHT milk over Christmas when she had run out and she says 'milk is milk' and she can't taste the difference!
Me - I don't drink milk - yuck, so can't really give an answer about taste n quality... it all tastes yuck to meEver wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0 -
i have mine from my milkman no choice hes mu husband lol0

We only use a small container each week so we buy with the weekly shop at the supermarket, we used to get a delivery but ended up with loads in the fridge every week, even if we have cereal we never use a lot.
I don't think you can taste the difference in tea or coffee but I could tell between various types when I used to drink it fresh as a child.0 -
Mine comes out of a cow. Apparently.

I get mine from my milkman - and I chop and change the order as I require, as I live on my own and don't always need it.
I have Goat's milk and the main problem was the only supermarket near me that had it was Waitrose and if I went in there on my way home I'd be hungry and buy lots of whoopsied meat and veg and spend a small fortune. With my milk delivered I hardly spend anything weekly, just on my big monthly shop and then the odd bit of veg when I run out.
I'm lucky to have a milkie that delivers Goat's milk!
Much better to have it delivered for me...

I get mine delivered from Riverford with my veg box each week. It costs a bit more than the supermarket but I save hundreds of pounds of impulse buys from not going to the supermarket. I am physically unable to go to Tesco just to buy a pint of milk. The local milk delivery was a lot more expensive than the milk I get with my veg box otherwise I would have done that. I buy three 2-litre packs of milk a week all delivered on a tuesday and they have a one week use by date on them as long as they remain unopened.:A0

Get mine from the supermarket about 8 pints a week, we have a local milkman but the price is significantly more than the supermarket and I just can't justify the expense .... its mostly the elderly people locally that rely on him but I think its most unfair they have to pay more just because sometimes they cannot get to a shop.. it would make such a difference to some of their lives if they could get bread and milk delivered but at a similar supermarket price..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Mine arrives with the milkman usually around 6am, and I generally think it's worth paying the extra for, since I spend money if I have to go to Tesco.
Having said that, last week the delivery was late (lunch-time) and this week I've had nothing at all yet, so I suspect he's been ill and can't get around due to the adverse conditions. At these times I'm glad I've got a supermarket 2-pinter in the freezer as backup!
I also like the fact that Dairy Crest have moved to monthly direct debit now, because for years it was the about only thing I used a cheque for. It is even possible to order online, but generally I just leave a note if I want to change the order. Milk delivery has certainly moved to the 21st century
Oh, and it saves on the environment as it comes in returnable glass bottles - only a small contribution, but good.0 -
We get through 6 pints a day and I get my milk from the supermarket. I'm currently paying £1.99 in Netto for 6 pints which isn't as cheap as Farmfoods but there isn't one in my town so it'd be an extra journey to get there. Plus I'm saving up for a bigger freezer so I'd have nowhere to put any bulk buys at the mo.
We recycle all the cartons & save the tops for Lions who are collecting them for Leukemia Research. I used to use a milkman but it did get expensive. I wish it was approx the same price as supermarket milk too.0
