Get mine from the supermarket about 8 pints a week, we have a local milkman but the price is significantly more than the supermarket and I just can't justify the expense .... its mostly the elderly people locally that rely on him but I think its most unfair they have to pay more just because sometimes they cannot get to a shop.. it would make such a difference to some of their lives if they could get bread and milk delivered but at a similar supermarket price..

But surely you would expect to pay more to get it delivered to your door.

I used to support our local milkie. Then they sold the round to someone else, who used to deliver Mondays, Weds and Fri [which was fine] but decided to start delivering milk at 8:30 rather than before we actually left the house - so we had to stop. Having no milk every 3 mornings started to get on our nerves, and the milk being sour when we got back from work in the summer was a waste of money.
  • I get through 4 pints a day and I buy it in Farmfoods because it is only £1 for 2L - I can't afford to buy it anywhere else
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

We get through about 14 pints a week. I buy it from one of two local farmshops. It comes from a local dairy and costs £1.25 for a 4 pint carton -cheapest milk I've found. It is unhomogonized so you get that old-fashioned cream line with the whole milk.

    Just over 31p a pint.

Wish it was easier to find unhomogenised milk. I don't want my milk to have smaller fat molecules.

I'm with you there Dave. Try your local farm shop or farmer's market. BigBarn is useful;)

We've had Dairy Crest deliver for years mainly to support our elderly neighbours. After lots of confusion when we went away, milk piling up in fridge/running out and then a price rise to over £1 for 2 pts we cancelled. Off to Farmstores for me! (and I've noticed most of my elderly neighbours don't use milkman either, many have UHT delivered with groceries)

We used a milk man up until about a year ago but it just got too expensive.
I now buy 8 pints a week from waitrose (£1.53 per 4 pints), i get a discount so doesn't work out too bad really
