We get one pint a day from the milkman (although he leaves two on Thursday and Saturday and doesn't come the following days). So 14 pints a week and it cost £7.98 a fortnight. Haven't worked out how much that is, but know it's a lot more than the supermarket. We buy UHT from supermarket at 54p a litre.
We did stop the milkman at onetime, but then they came round canvasing and saying that if we just got a pint every other day it would help to keep the doorstep delivery. It would be a shame if it wasn't available for those who do need it. But I do wonder every time it goes up whether to stop it.

  • We buy our milk from the local corner shop, he charges 2.10(pounds) for two 4 pinters, he has long dates on them too. I did consider a milkman last year, but whilst he continues to sell milk at this price, i just can't afford the extra cost that using a milkman would entail.

It is worth checking out any local corner shops near you as they may also do deals like this.
  • We buy 2 pints from the milkman on a Monday and a Friday at 58p a pint.

I usually get another 4 pint in with the shopping.

TBH though, I am seriously considering cancelling as the milk never comes till after 1pm and I have had a few pints turn quickly. I am all for supporting milkman, but I need the milk for breakfast, not dinner time.

Sorry, it's 14 pints a fortnight (as that's when he comes to collect pay) and £7.98. Just worked it out at 57p a pint. That is a lot when we pay 54p a litre for the rest of our milk. Actually we get most of it from the supermarket as we get through about 18 litres on top of the 7 pints from milkman. Just get the pint a day to keep him in a job. Also, it is good to have just in case we run out, there's always that pint there first thing. And at least he does come early. Wouldn't keep him on if it was lunch time when he came.

Our milkman charges 55p a pint, which I consider expensive.

I would buy the milk from the supermarket, but as he has been delivering here for the past 38 years, I'm too much of a coward!

He's a great milkman though, his father delivered previously, and they have never let us down.
  • I often get milk from my local farm shop who sorce it from local farms, for some reason it does taste better than supermarket stuff which seems watery to me, also what do they do to the milk to give it a shelf life of about a month, it never use to keep that long
