Going to have a look at local delivery as had to pop out for Milk last night and ended up spending £11 on nothing that I needed other than milk that cost £3, unfortunately milk and more and not in our area, will have to look at Grahams Dairies I think.

DD2's boyfriends dad has just been made redundant today from Wisemans Dairies in Fife, which has spurred me on to go down this route too - we have to support businesses as much as possible. Unfortunately the price fixing by large supermarkets is going to be the death knell for our British Dairies as they cannot continue getting paid a pittance from the Supermarkets and keep a viable business.
Will have a look and see if there are any small independant dairies in the area first, and give them a call in the morning - it would be great if we could go back to glass bottles - milk tasted soooooo much better!

Hello, again! Just dug out this thread to ask if anyone has had a fruit&veg box from the milkman? Wondering if it is good quality/good value?
It's £12.99 for fruit, salad and veg, doesn't say quantities though!

Hello, I have just had one of these delivered.. it was £11.99, and I have just added up the cost of the fruit and veg in it on the asda website and it comes to £9.95.. So I think it was worth it! If you count the extra £2 as a delivery charge, it's a good way to get fruit and veg for those of us who only go to the big supermarket once a month or whatever.

I'm thinking ahead to spring (optimistic maybe!) and trying to decide whether to get a little coolbox to leave on the step for the milkman to put the milk in.

Does anyone else bother with one? So far the milk has been delivered before 7am - so even in the height of summer it won't be hot by then I suppose.

phizzimum - lots of DHs customers leave a bag/box out for their milk(in a discreet hiding place of course):)

You could always wait and if the milk isn't cold when you get to drink it one morning sort it out that week. That way if you get through summer without buying one you know you don't need it. Buying one up front doesn't seem very MSE

  • I canceled my milk man delivery last year because of sour milk,The milk was delivered in glass bottles with no labeling and no use by dates,he delivered a Mon Wed and Friday from a standard white van, also the foil tops on the bottles were often different, occassionaly the bottles had a dairy's name blown on them but there didnt seem to be any consistency,I had no idea where my milk was coming from or how old it was(at least 2 or 3 pints a month were "off")..at one point i wondered if he was making up his milk run by nicking bottles of milk from peoples doorsteps:rotfl:
Shame realy,as i got quite nostalgic rinsing out my glass bottles and putting them on the doorstep at night, helped with the recycling too.
Does anyone know if milk and more deliver in Scotland at all?(they dont in my area)

Depends who serves your area. I can't afford Milk & More at around 85p a pint last time I checked. But people with local dairies seem to get it slightly cheaper and even more so, if they can go to the farm to collect.

Manage to find a local dairy website and find it is 75p/pint. I can't justify the cost of getting my milk in glass bottles!
