He called back about 2hrs later to tell me he still couldnt get in post room!!! I requested to speak with someone from post room, he transfered me to a rather rude girl who informed me that they were a couple of days behind with the post, she took down my receipt number and said she would look for my documents and call back, that was Thursday still waiting.......... managed to spk with caseworker the nxt day who said she had been off sick and was playing cath up, she would check for our post, she said nothing had been updated and no further progress made as Persimmon hadnt sent them the contract. spke to Persimmon who had sent the contract to them 10 days ago!!! no callback AGAIN!! Meant to be exchanging contracts on 17th July, not a chance!! Havent had chance to call them today but when i do i will be going straight to their manager and demanding answers or a refund!!!!

PLEASE stay well clear from these solicitors - absolutely dismal!!!!!!!

I'm sure I am repeating what many have said before but it really really isnt worth the stress that these solicitors WILL cause you just to save a few hundred quid! Get a recommendation from someone you know and trust.

They were the solicitors for the sellers we have just bought from and they have been an absolute shambles from start to finish! The sellers, the agent and my solicitors could never get hold of them ever - no matter how many urgent messages were left! No contact by phone email or post!

They even lied to us saying a letter hadnt been recieved - when we checked online using the royal mail tracker it showed it had been recieved and even had the signature of who recieved it!!!

When we were all set to exchange they said they couldnt as they "had other stuff in their diaries"

4 different people dealt with the case and clearly had no communication with each other whatsoever! My solicitor kept having to explain in much detail legal points as they had no clue!

My solicitor was superb and we found the whole thing so frustrating and stressful - it was a no chain simple sale and they turned it into a nightmare so god knows what they would be like with a complicated chain sale!

So apologies for my rant but like I said, with something so important, its not worth cutting corners.

Good luck to those of you stuck with them!!!!
  • Actually I used BestConveyancingQuotes, they are part of a bigger company called Wolstenholmes Solicitors. They carried out my HIP together with the conveyancing for the sale and purchase. Anthony Danvers handled my case, he was one of the most professional people I have had dealings with in a long time. The service was excellent, and he responded to any questions I had promptly and efficiently. Best of all is the price, I would happily recommend them to anyone without any reservations

Sounds pretty interesting that a new comer, only joining from 09 July 2009, has spent time to post all 4 messages promoting for a notorious conveyancing firm that all other posters have had bad experience with
    :eek::eek::eek:

    - Weird that name should crop up, thats the guy I was put with after another guy left the company, (I didnt like to mention names before). Apparently Anthony tells me his assistant has now left. Tha hardest part is getting an answer from someone, or for anyone to pick up the telephone! I sent off numerous correspondence to Anthony but he kept saying he didnt have them!
Im not saying it his fault, but his attitude was a "little rude" and sounded like he didnt want to be there. There were quick enough to take my money! but bloody annoying to get any back.
  • never ever touch this cowboy outfit, they are useless and have staff leaving all the time, 4 weeks after using them found out my conveyencer had quit and nobody informed me. never return calls, never return emails and had done nothing in 4 weeks! some mortgage lenders refuse now to lend you money if you go through them which says it all to me. this company is also known as bestconveyencingquote. please verybody do not touch them EVER!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS COMPANY FOR BUYING /SELLING HOUSE - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

They really shouldn't be in business. Never answer phones, emails, I cannot believe anybody gets to completion with these, they are so incompetent.

In answer to a previous message "has anybody got their money back", well, yes..........after four weeks of hounding them.

You see, I got rid of them after after two weeks of......................well absolutely nothing, and switched to another local solicitor. I guess a lesson learnt really, cheap often means rubbish!

The one star in this organisation is the lady in accounts who deals with refunds, (and must be very busy), and was very helpful though, but the rest; phew! After a false alarm of a cheque going missing, I thought I was being strung along, but a replacement bank transfer restored my faith in her, and provided me with my refund.:T

Time to put the nightmare of Wolstenholmes to bed and forget it ever happened.
