I work for hermes as a 'self employed' courier and we are not all scraped from the bottom of a barrell!
You have had a bad experience which does not justify us all being tarred with the same brush! It does make me wonder why the driver blatantly refuses to deliver to you in the first place, parking restrictions seem a limp excuse, we all have to deal with those on a daily basis! You may well just have a miserable sod for a courier, can't blame him really, he would receive 45p for delivering your parcel. We are not all like that though, some of us manage a smile and a whistle as we make our fortunes delivering parcels to happy customers
I do have to say, to me, it seems somewhat 'unusual' to have a field manager come to your house and then deliver parcels to you personally...whats that about?0 -
Just arranged Hermes to collect an iPad, but reading this thread has got me worried
They can't be that bad can they? I'll certainly wrap it extra carefully, but now I'm worried that it will get there at all!
What are they like to claim from in the event of a problem? We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -
Better off sending it Special Delivery, i presume an Ipad is worth a few quid0

To be fair, people rarely go on boards like that to report good service, mostly just the complaints ever get logged. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

I think My Hermes exclude Laptops, Monitors, or computer equipment from compensation. I'd have thought an Ipad came under computer equipment.0

Yes they are excluded so you wont have any cover
Laptops, Monitors, or computer equipment
Televisions, Plasma & TFT Screens and Monitors

I think one part is saying if you're not at home, get it delivered to work. No company I have ever worked for have allowed this."There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow." - Orison Swett Marden0 -

I don't think English can be his 1st language.
This post really shows that sometimes delivery companies don't have more than the normal amount of problems but they are resurrected annually.
Just a note if your item is being delivered or picked up by Hermes, you do need to be around or allocate a safe place, the company does not have a collection depot.
Deanos, I think you must work for a competitor, you do seem to keep on about Hermes/Parcelnet, can't just be about a problem you've had.
Put any delivery company name into ciao and complaintsboard and we are all carp according to the customers. I won't link to other companies complaints although it's easy to do, a disgruntled customer will find it, a happy customer isn't looking to leave praise.Originally posted by Deanos

zenseeker hope all goes well with your delivery. I only posted about the exclusions because a customer had a problem with a laptop.
It's great to have someone post with a realistic view as you did.0
