Hi all :j
We have wooden venetian blinds and now sooner have I cleaned them (which takes me an age) they are dusty again.
I have tried using the 2 prong cleaners for blinds but they dont seem to do the job. Has anyone any tips for keeping the dust at bay for longer or making it far easier to clean them.
Thanks v much!

Yep
I think it may have been the first post in the "Double Duty" thread by Queenie that suggested wearing one of those defoliating glove things and wiping them clean which to me, as a bloke, would mean "What...? Use a sock" but you'll get the picture
Yep... here's the thread:-

I use an old pair of OH's flannel type sport socks damp over my hands. I agree tho that they don't stay dust free for long.

Hi
I have wooden blinds throughout the home:eek: (4 in total but 2 are very large)and totally know where your coming from. Although they look lovely and chic, the reality of keeping them clean is another matter:rolleyes:
Used to use a normal duster with alot of polish on it and they seem to last maybe 2 days without them seriously peeing me off. I now use a damp microfibre cloth with a touch of flash or vinegar solution and they seem to go 3-4 days, so downstairs is done twice a week and upstairs once!
We have wooden floors too so think there is nowhere for the dust to collect, so settles much more quickly and looks very unsightly.
In the kitchen I have Roman blinds and they get a wipe down with a damp cloth maybe once every 3 months and will be having these when and if we get a 2nd hand conservatory.....no more wooden blinds!!!!!!!!! I have 2 lovely pairs of curtains we had in the lounge before buying the blinds so may go back to them soon, but this will mean buying nets.
I think the sun makes it look so much worse too, so am dreading the summer.
Good Luck

I dust mine weekly which seems to be fine but the kitchen ones I use my steamer to clean (although this has died recently & I need to buy a new one).
It was amazing how good they looked and how much fresher the room was,
However I was told by the firm that fitted them to remove them and clean them in the bath - though have never tried this.0 -
I have found closing the blInds and then using one of those duster trapper disposable thingy's - what are they called... the ones where you change the brusH/cloth thing........... I forget now - anyway, I find that gets mine clean - sometime with a light spritz of polish first.

I wait for mum to come round, I'm sure she has a fetish for cleaning venetian blinds!I haven't got one!0

A friend took her kitchen venetian blinds down (not wooden ones) and put them in the bath with a couple of dishwasher tablets. The tablets lifted the grease and they came up great.
I put a sock on for my wooden blinds, but I hate doing them.MFW 1/5/08 £45,789 Cleared mortgage 1/02/13

I have just cleaned the most grotty kitchen blind ...... it was sooo bad I put it off for ages!!
I tried it in th bath , but it was far too wide!! So next plan was get out an old sheet and move the furniture in living room, put sheet down, place bogging blind, spread out 'closed', on top. Then bowl of hot water with dish washer powder (thanks for that, far better than washing up liquid) rubber gloves and elbow grease! Did one side, turned it over and then the other then the first again!.
Better clean the window now:eek:0
