Hi all,
I've recently moved house & there are blinds up at every window. Mainly wooden ones but in the kitchen they are the metal type.
Now the question is what is the best way of cleaning them? They are all in good condition just filthy!! I don't think they have ever been cleaned at all.

I have metal ones in my kitchen which I can't soak in the bath (due to rusting). I make up a bicarb hot water solution and whilst hanging wipe over them with a cloth and the hot water. Bicarb cleaned my a treat.
Not sure about the wooden ones though.......I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

I have blinds in my kitchen and I make up a solution of flash and hot water, and I use one of those micro fibre cloths wrung out really well. I wrap my fingers around each part of each slat and run the cloth over it so it cleans both sides at the same time.
Good luck, I did my last month, I did it over four days as they are SOOOOO boring to clean! Worth it thou, they look lovely (for a while!).0 -
How clean is your house did it earlier, lined the bath with towels & put in warm soapy water.
I do my white ones in the bedroom with a pair of cotton gloves on, dip them in warm cleaning water & drag along the blind slats..if that makes sense??

You're lucky. Where mine have been spashed by water from sink the very bottom of the blind has a leeeeeeeeeeetle rust spot :mad:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Hi
I found a great gadget from lakeland limited for cleaning blinds and its only £2.93. It is one of the few products I've found that actually works. You slide it on the blind but then you can grip it and slide along so it drags all the muck off. Go to www.lakeland.co.uk and look at product number 21691 blind duster.
Hope this helps but I agree with the others - it's the most boring job in the world. I had to find something to use because my blinds don't come apart to be able to take them down and wash them in the bath!!Dawnie :j0 -

I use gloves (cotton or wool) and wipe the blinds using a solution of washing up liquid
I'll add this to the existing thread on this subject.
