Please add me into the slimming, I have been trying to lose 1stone for 2.5months so far I've lost 1lb!!
I have a major sweet tooth, and often don't eat properly

I want to join too! my boy's nearly 2 so s'pose can't blame him on the weight - can't even say coz of eating his leftover - doesnt leave any! (takes after me, lol!) have been tested for food intolerances in the past and was found to be intolerant to corn and anything made from corn - makes me bloat, so will blame that
I don't know if this is any use to anyone but was told to stay off anything with modified corn/maize starch in,or guargar gum, or xanthe??(something!!) - all used to bulk up food (and us!), so check you're labels girls! it's in everything (even hairspray/deoderant i've found!) good excuse to dust off those pands and make up huge batches of pasta sauce
anyone got any tips for staying off the pastry's??0 -

SM - Congratulations on a wonderful weightloss, well done!
Bitsy - I'm sending hugs your way.
Please don't undervalue yourself, it'll just make you feel more stressed. I can see why you feel that way, but your H is not 'the sole wage earner', you are too, even if you aren't bringing in much money - you're still having to work. Also you are having to look after 2 young children - that's a job in itself - it's no coincidence that people who are rich enough often hire nannys!
I'm sorry your H is having such a bad time at work - it's horrible when it's down to your co-workers. I'm really not enjoying my work, but the only part that's keeping it bearable is my co-workers. I assume he's looking for other jobs? If you can, try drawing up (perhaps not literally!) an action (escape!)plan - how long he'll keep looking for another job, what your alternatives are if he doesn't get one by that time - can he retrain/are there any evening classes etc. he could take to make his cv look better, worst case scenario - are you able to take/find a different job if he hasn't found something in x amount of time...etc?
I'm not saying that you should do any of this, or that this is necessarily the way to go - I just know that having 'an escape plan' has helped my husband and I out several times when things look bleak. In fact, my husband was made redundant shortly after I had my daughter - at the time he was a chef - and by the time it came to me returning to work, he still wasn't working. I really was feeling panicky then, but we managed to come up with a plan whereby he looked after our daughter at home for 6 months, instead of putting her in childcare, and then the following September he started a degree course in Computing. We were actually no worse off with him as a student, then when he worked! He's now got a computing job....
Anyway, apologies for the long post, I hope I've managed to say something positive in my ramblings!
Thanks for the advice. Our escape plan is to relocate to Somerset but given the climate for jobs I am not sure when that will happen! I think he's going to keep his eye open and he's learned a lesson not to trust any of them at work. Well done on your H changing career. Not sure my H would be interested in doing that but I guess it's always worth a look. Although I am earning very little as a CM we couldn't pay the mortgage if he wasn't working.
Still I feel better for getting it off my chest and for the hugs you girls give me. Need to focus on the getting slimmer aspect as this seems to have slipped a little.

Hi everyone, and hi to all new members!
Bitsy - I'm in Somerset, so do give me a shout if you need any info! Main newspapers around here (in my neck of the woods) for jobs tend to be Somerset County Gazette and Western Daily Press. The Gazette's definitely available online www.somersetcountygazette.co.uk and I'm sure the Daily Press is too!Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

Oh that's fab. I will check those out. Ideally we'd love to move Taunton way with a view to H commuting to Bristol (if that was possible). Don't want to swap living on the edge on one large cithy centre suburb for another. Still all could just be pipe dreams.......need to win the LottoI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Hi everyone, how are you all getting on?
I'm sticking to my diet pretty well at the moment, but it's feeling a bit heavy going! Dreading this weekend, as it's that time of the month which makes me soooo tempted to be bad, so I'm desperately focusing on wanting to be a small size 12 as opposed to my current size 14.
Had a minor victory earlier this week. I tried on some size 12 jeans in Matalan (alright so not the best size guide, but all the same!) and they fit me!!!! I nearly bought them just for the novelty!Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

well done red i think im about the same as you at the mo i want to be a small 12 going on 10 im currently a small size 14 either that or ive streched my clothes as 12s are too tight but 14 is too big ... they need to bring out a 13 :rotfl: x
