We ought to have some sort of poll where people can say what card they applied for and whether they were charged a fee. Then new applicants could see the likelihood of being charged a fee, depending on what card they go for. Not sure how this sort of poll is done so maybe someone more technically minded than me can help. :)
What did I do at work before I discovered MSE?!

DFD - WAS: a while ago

NOW - not sure, due to boyfriend going back to uni for masters and now pgce. Worth it in the long run!
Proud to be dealing with my debts!

I really dont think a poll is a good idea because it opens it all upto "you may or may not face charges". What then we never know the APR's of cards, cant trust any figures from cards, and its a game of pot luck based on the likelyhoods.

What we need is to be sure 100% which card charges a BT fee and which ones dont, black or white then, thats how it is, no variances. We cant have a system whereby people dont know if theyre gona get charged or not, its pot luck, and admit defeat that the cards can charge at will as they like. Thats not what we need from the charity cards, any credit card, or here.

Firstly I think we need absolute confirmation that some of the charity cards have 0% BT, some have a fee, and they need to make clear which ones. Martin can perhaps do this with his contacts, perhaps with the Alex guy, he or someone may even know whether all cards should have a 0% or not. Plus, if theyre really has been a full briefing to all staff of which cards charge which dont, we need to work towards getting them to state that on the sites for their good and consumers. Or at least ask customer services which cards charge which ones have 0% BT according to theyre briefing, which should all be made clear to the public and consumers.

Well, it was easy for me. I applied using the links that Martin recommended, and in due course was accepted. Bad news was that I was given a very low credit limit (£3,400) and then it took them so long to issue the card that had to pay off my Virgin card from my stooze pot. However, I have just received the card and BTed 3,056.60 to my Egg card, which I will use as a mule to get the funds into my stooze pot again. I asked the customer service person to check that there was no BT fee, and after a moment to look at his screen he confirmed that this was the case.

So compared to many people here, I am lucky.

Following on from previous post - no one rang me back (what a surprise) I have now spoken to someone in card services on 0800 3896677 who has assured me that on the Macmillan card there is no fee for balance transfer. He said that some of the charity cards they deal with have a BT fee and others don't. He said there has been total confusion about this with hundreds of calls and a memo has gone round the office now explaining which have the fee and which don't - thanks I am sure to Martin's efforts.

I am now going to send off my form and hope for the best

Please would anyone with a Macmillan card, please tell me what the minimum repayment is on the terms and conditions sent with their card. Is it 2 or 3%?

I applied for a Macmillan card last weekend and got the paperwork through yesterday to sign and return.

It says in my crdit card agreement that the minimum monthly repayment is 2%

Hmmm, maybe I'll go back and look at the terms and conditions I initially signed up then. I received my first statement this month and it definitely states min payment 3% or £5, whichever is lowest.

Just applied for the Guide Dogs (HBOS) card online. Received a confimation back that I had been accepted, given a reference number and a credit limit that more than covers the balance transfer that I entered in the application. I had been worried that I might be turned down as I took out an RBS card last October for a 0% balance transfer, and applied for an Egg Money card(paid off each month) in February to control petrol and housekeeping. This is my last balance transfer I'll be debt free by March 2007.

    Just completed activitation and confirmed:

0% for 9 months, 0 BT fee. Allowed to transfer 90% of credit limit
    Minimum repayment of 2%

Very keen to persuade you to take out protection to cover everything under the sun and wanted to know why I wasn't going to. Politely said, no thank you.
