Well didn't get my hair done in the end. I phoned yesterday to find out the time of my appointment, the lady said 11am. So this morning, i managed to drag myself out of bed, wasn't easy i must tell you, and OH very kindly digged the car out the snow, and gave me a lift to town, he was going in anyway as needed some bits from Wickes. I had an hour before my appointment so just killed time in Marks n Sparks buying some bread, milk, and then popped in Primark and bought my mates gift card and also some other bits for me, whoops. Rocked up at the salon at 10.40 and they said i'd missed my appointment  apparently the girl looked at my cut appointment at 11 and didn't realise i was also booked in for a colour at 9am. So the lady said she couldn't fit my colour in now, so i left it. I only had it cut/coloured 5 weeks ago so didn't really need doing just yet.

If i'd walked into town i'd of been very peed. We had lots of fresh snow last night, and i think we now have about 11 inches  and more heavy snow predicted tonight.

Other than that, when I got back from town OH and I needed to do a big shop in Sainsburys. I must tell you that we didn't go because we were panic buying like the rest of Kent, we went because it was our weekend to go shopping, and we only go once every 3/4 weeks. When we got there we soon regretted going. Considering the snow here is bad, and it was snowing really heavily when we left, Sainsburys car park was rammo, and inside, OH MY GOD. It was busier than it was when we went at Christmas time. We were in the line to pay for 1/2 hour  all the checkouts were the same. Its madness as the lady on the checkout said most people had said to her they were out shopping because they were getting worried, oh get a life, your not going to be snowed in for 3 months, and I'm sure you have plenty of good food at home you could eat, plus, your not going to starve. Some people ay!

Its 'that' time of the month for me, so i've spent the afternoon on the sofa with my fluffy hot water bottle on my belly, and just been watching the snow come down, it's sooo pretty.

Just got into bed now, and doing some research into prices for Rome.

  • Can't believe what happened with your hair appointment after all the effort you had made to get into town. Customer service eh?

Sainsbury's sounds like it was an absolute nightmare! Did you manage to get some nice food though?

Poor you with it being the time of month.. I always crave nice leisurely baths, chocolate and lounging in my pyjamas!

That is so annoying about the hair appointment, at least like you said it hasn't been too long since your last colour.

Apparently Sainsburys here at my parents was a nightmare yesterday as well. We usually go shopping on a Monday so hopefully won't be too bad, there is no snow in central London anyway.
  • Not having my hair done saved me some money, so wasn't really that peed. If it really needed doing then i probably would've kicked off a little more :D

Not done a lot today, just been chilling and doing the usual stuff you need to do around the house. I have done some further research into Rome and I have decided not to go to Rome, i am instead taking OH to Dublin for 3 nights at the end of Feb. I have been researching lots and budgeting etc, and worked out i can get a really good offer staying at the Hilton Hotel Dublin and flying with British Airways, all for £311 for two, bargain. The Hilton alone was costing £412 if going direct with the website, but searched around for hours looking everywhere and found a really good deal thru Lastminute.com. So 3 nights at the Hotel Hilton Dublin Kilmainham and flying BA from Heathrow, all for £311. I really wanted Rome, but i wanted to stay in the Hilton there, i don't like staying in cheap hotels, and it was going to cost about £600 for 2 nights, so double the price of Dublin. We love Italy so would rather go in the summer anyway. OH is a big Guiness drinker so would love to also take him to the Guiness Storehouse.

Watched Dancing on Ice tonight, i love it every year. I'd love to be able to do something like that, i'd love it. Love dancing, so dancing on ice would be such fun. If only i was a celeb :rotfl: don't think they'd be too impressed if i started doing routines like that at the local ice rink. Now watching Forrest Gump, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get" love that saying.

Going to keep my eyes peeled in the charity shops for a cheap Dublin guide book.

No money making done today, but the deal i found is like money making as saved myself money. I normally spend £150 on OH for birthday anyways, and saved myself £80 yeseterday not getting my hair done, so if i can make £70 i'd of paid for me to go to Dublin too, so no money spent :T

  • hey Hayles!

Sounds like you've found a great deal there in Dublin. I have never been but would love to go. I also love my home comforts and nice hotels and can't ever imagine slumming it in hostels like some of my friends have when travelling! I love nice clean sheets, hot baths and need to be able to use my GHDs!

hey hayles, rubbish about your hair appt, but like you say it saved you money when you didn't need it doing too badly.

I feel for you with the sainsbury's thing, I went to tescos, and firstly couldn't park, then when I went to get some eggs their weren't any and I couldn't even get down the fruit and veg aisle, was stressed to the max by the time I came out. grrrrrr

Hope you're having a good day hun

  • Yeah i'm so impressed with the Dublin offer. I am really good when it comes to booking holidays, i always hunt for days for special offers, compare the deals to booking the hotel/flights individually, its so much fun. I have always done really well with booking trips to America too. Looking forward to the day OH and I plan our wedding, we will definitely get married in New York, or somewhere in America, then travel to all the places in America that we love, it'll be so much fun looking for deals and budgeting it all. I've just re-read what i wrote and god i sound sad

Just been looking at places to visit in Dublin, it looks really good. Not that expensive either. I plan on OH and I having a day using the Hiltons facilities, spa, sauna, pool, and then a nice meal at the restaurant.

Mara - they probably bump up the prices at Valentines, anything like Christmas/valentines they bump up the price for things, its a con.

Missy - your experience sounded like mine, that's why i don't like going shopping at weekends, especially one's when we've had snow.

Another £1 in my pot today, and £4 in my sealed pot :T

The Guiness factory is cool, just don't go hung over like I did! When we finally got to the top we didn't want our free Guiness lol.
  • Hehe Yuk, i don't like Guiness so i will probably not be drinking for the 4 days we are there :D that'll save us some money.

Not much happening money saving wise, i put £1 in the sealed pot today, and £2 in the other pot.

For the last few days i've been keeping my eye on the Boots thread to watch out when the 75% sale starts, it was meant to be tomorrow, but looks like it;s been put back a week due to the weather and poor sales, so it's maybe next Wednesday now. Nobody is 100% though so will probably still try and pop in my local store when it opens, if not i'll be there next week too :j
