Der - stupid me, will update my sig after this Maria - thanks hun!
What a lovely day i've had, it was so nice having my niece, she's just the best, it was hard to give her back this eveningAlvin and the Chipmunks was really good, my niece got a little bit fidgety half way through and starting shouting she wanted to go home, but once i put her on my lap she was fine and was laughing her head off :rotfl: the chipettes were good. We then went to Pizza Hut for some food after, which was yummy! £4 each for pizza, garlic bread and a drink, bargain. We went at 5pm so just caught the special offer between 2-6. I spent about £25 on cinema, parking and treats for the film. OH paid for Pizza
From now i am not spending anymore money on rubbish. I have budgeted £50 a month on clothes/essentials for me and that is it. No more wasting money on stuff i don't need. I going to go through all my stuff and either ebay stuff i no longer want or give it to OH's mum for cancer research.
I'm also going to start putting £1 in a jar from tomorrow, that should pay for Christmas next year. Who notices £1 a day? Easy peasy challenge, even one i can stick too.
OH is back to work tomorrow bless him, so going to pop into town and buy my road tax and also buy a pot in the 99p store for my £1's, i'd also like a sealed pot for another of the challenges. Then when i get back from town i am going to have a big sort out whilst watching my One Tree Hill boxset.
OH and I are staying in this New Years eve and i've decided to cook us a nice 3 course meal, and get a few ingredients for some cocktails  celebrate the new year in style. We don't fancy going out, plus we're not big party animals or drinkers so would much prefer to stay in. Maybe boring to some people, but we like it like that:D:D

Aww, bless your niece. Sounds like you had fun! I always forget about that bargin £4 deal at pizza hut!!
Good luck with your sort out.
Me and my OH are the same we dont get anything out of going out and getting drunk and paying huge entrance fee's just to get into a bar on New Years Eve then get charged a fortune on drinks. The New Years thing...its over rated! Although i wouldnt mind going the london one year to see the fireworks.Make £5 a day JAN £121/175 FEB £283/175:jWeekly Grocery budget of £35! I started my challenges last night, put £1 in a jar, and then when i woke up this morning i put another £1 in the jar, so thats £2 for one of the challenges :j
Poor OH when off to work this morning, he really didn't want to get up, but to make it easier on him i got up at 7 am with him, and then when he went i started sorting out our holiday pics, all 1,500 of them  I bought 2 photo boxes the other day in the sales, actually not quite sales as they were reduced by £1 to £6.99 each.
Just put on my boxset, listed my jobs for the day, and put on the kettle for a nice big mug of coffee, that might keep me from napping in the afternoon.
Decided not to go to town today, only because i need to post an ebay item for OH and he's not boxed it up, and i don't want to do it incase i box it wrong, so i'll go tomorrow and post the item and do my road tax, save me going twice and paying parking twice, very MSE of me :j

Hi
Just wanted to drop in and say best of luck with your challenges and best wishes for 2010

I think that sounds a good idea trying to not spend money on rubbish. I am going to do a spending diary this month as my money is so tight so will be good to keep an eye on it.
I am not a big New Year fan either. OH is working till 10 at least so my friend is coming down as she had nothing to do either. We are planning a couple of drinks somewhere if there is anywhere! Then we are going to try and watch the fireworks. I have never done it before so will be good to see what it is like. Apparently is a nightmare to get home afterwards.0 -
I'm going to start my spending diary again starting from the 1st January, and hopefully keep it going updating it constantly throughout the year. Good way to find out where you need to stop spending.
New Year is totally over rated I agree Maria, especially when pubs you go in throughout the year charge you silly money to get in.
I did pop to town in the end today, i went at 3pm thinking it would be quiet, like eck it was, i must of been waiting nearly half hour for a parking space, why everyone decided to wait till 3 pm to pop to the shops i don't know. I bought my road tax, only got 6 months as i want to sell the car in a few months. I also posted the ebay item, so least its all done now.
Whilst out shopping i popped in primark, as you do, and picked up some bits, only spent £17 so its not too bad. I also treated myself to a 'Pot of Dreams' from Clinton for my sealed pot challenge. It was £9.99 and i've always wanted to get one but didn't like the idea of having to smash it, but treated myself in the end. Its a nice dark pink and silver spotted colour. I'm going to only put £1's and 50p's in it, just to make it a little bit easier when it comes to count it haha. I made my wish and put 1x £1 and 2x 50p's.
When i got home OH wanted to talk to me, all serious like, was quite scary. He said he wanted to take me away to a country hotel for New Years for 2 nights. He'd taken tomorrow off work, and wanted me to help him choose a hotel last minute, he said preferably one with a sauna and spa, heaven. But due to the weather and the changes of snow up north i didn't want to risk not being able to get there, or get back, so said i'd rather put the £300 towards a European break in March/April, so thats what we have done. We're going to use the 3 x Free blockbuser vouchers we have and get 3 dvds for free, and i'll cook us a nice 3 course meal tomorrow night. Just need to decide what I'm going to cook now, any ideas? My OH is such a nice guy, he deserves a really nice meal.
Just in the middle of burning down the apartment, sausages are burning and have set off the smoke alarm, so OH is moaning at me to get off and concentrate on dinner so best go. I think he's more worried about having no dinner, he does like bangers and mash with lots of gravy.

Aww what a lovely surprise from your OH, sounds like a good idea to postpone it though and go somewhere in Europe. My OH wants to take me away somewhere end of Jan so I have been looking to see if there are any good deals.
The pot sounds lovely, make sure you save lots. It will soon add up if it is pounds and 50p's.0 -
Yeah it was so nice of OH, but i would prefer to use the money towards a break later on in 2010, not long been back from Mexico.
My pot is soo nice, just want it filled up with shiney 50p's and £1's now!
I have decided, i am going to treat myself to the iphone in a couple of weeks. Once i have sold my itouch on ebay i will visit Orange and open the contract, i'm going to hate paying £180 for the phone but it will be my one treat for the year, then i wll be saving for my dental work which i will hopefully get done mid May, then i will continue to save for a new car for the 2nd half of the year. Its going to mean no spending apart from the £50 i have budgeted for on clothes/essentials. I think its very do-able though as i don't need anything.
Roll on 2010 and starting my year of hard saving.........
