Another day of spending money on clothes
i just don't stop do i?! OH is working today so decided to pop into town, have a look in the charity shops see what bargains i can find, but i ended up in Primark and spent £30 on some winter jumpers and some really pretty bra and knicker sets, i don't usually buy my underwear from Primark but they are soooo cheap compared to House of Fraser where i usually go, so gonna give them ago i think. I also bought a nice purple cardigan from New Look, was reduced so was a must - I LOVE purple! Also bought some essentials from Boots, i had 2 No7 vouchers so wanted to get those used up, just bought 2 packs of No7 wipes which are usually £6.50 each, so 2 packs for £3 is brilliant.
After my shopping spree i popped in on my sister who was packing to move back in with my folks, she's 21 and doesn't yet realise the true value of money bless her, she doesn't like charity shops, very rarely goes in Primark and likes the most expensive things, even if she can't afford them (hence her moving back home for 5 months to save some money to pay off debts). My dad bought her all brand new really nice furniture from Harveys when she moved into this rented place in March, cost around 2K, my sister being my sister didn't even think about trying to sell it all, she just wanted shot because she was moving and wanted to get new stuff when she gets somewhere else because the dark wood won't match her next place, god knows how she knows that as she won't be looking for a place till next April, anyways, she decided to give it all to her friend who like my sister has no money for free, my mum and I was not happy when we heard, especially because my family have a bit of money but not money just to throw away. She spent lots of money on her Next catalogue, around 1K on bedding, the usually house bits you need, didn't want to go Wilkos or Primark for bedding, and she just gave all that away too for free, and what makes it worse, is that she's still paying off her Next debt
She was also throwing lots of clothes, so i decided i'd help her decide what she didn't want from her clothes, shoes, handbags, belts, and luckily i did otherwise the dustbin would've got lots and lots of new clothes because she again didn't have the brain to think she could bootsale it, give it to charity, or even ebay it. I have a BIG bag full of stuff i took away as there was no way i was chucking it, so I'm going to go through that and bootsale it tomorrow. My sister doesn't want any profit i make, she just wanted rid
I'm now back home and will start going through the bag later ready for tomorrow.
I promised my OH i would make him a curry tonight, so just been to Sainsburys and bought all the bits i need, and it cost me nearly £20. I could've ordered a take-away for that. I did also pick up a bottle of wine as it was on offer for £3.99 so that bumped it up a little, but still, curry ingredients are expensive. I don't really like curry, but my OH does, and we never have it because I'm not a fan, however this once i have said i will make it and eat it.

Hi Hayley :hello: Isn't Hayley just a great name?!
I need all the luck i can get to stop me spending  I have just put £20 in my purse in the hope it lasts 2 weeks. I don't need anything, so i should have change left in two weeks.
Unfortunately my curry didn't turn out great, i really don't know what went wrongnext time i'm definitely getting a take-away! Cheaper and a lot less stressful.
Just sorting out my stuff for tomorrows carboot, fingers crossed it should be successful. If i make £30-£40 after the entrance fee it would've been worth getting up at 6 am on a Sunday!
Off to enjoy my Saturday evening now! Currently watching the cube, what a great show. The very best things in life ... are free!

Hi Hayley
I cant believe your sister has just given all her things away for free! I hope you make some good money on the bag of goodies you got from her.
£20 on curry ingredients!! What did you buy for it hun?? tesco has curry sauce for 4p and it dont taste too bad, i think sainsburys also does curry sauce for under 10p too.
Good luck on your carboot sale.

Your sister sounds like a bit of a nightmare. My Dad would definitely give me nothing again if I did something like that,
Hope you manage to stop yourself from spending! Just think of the money you need to save up.0 -
Hey girlies,
Well i'm back from my bootsale, and after the £9 entrance free i made £70 :j i still hate the people who want things for more or less nothing, and i still never give in as i'd rather give the stuff to people who need it more. My sister had 2 LOVELY wicker lamps from Next which she had given to my mum, however my mum decided they didn't go with the house, so i took them today and reluctantly sold them for £15 for both. They cost £40 each new, and people kept complimenting on them, yet kept turning up their noses to £20 for both, so i gave in and sold them for £15 just so my sister had some money to go towards the debt.
After you have done a carboot you really do realise the true value of money - selling things for next to nothing when you bought them for so much more, and then when you get home and spent £3.39 on a subway you stop and think to yourself, i've just sold something i paid £50 for a few months ago for £5  so when you spent that much on a subway you realise how much that subway just cost you! If that makes sense?
SO, no more buying my lunches from Marks every day at £3 per day, also no more chucking money in the vending machine :T I think i may of just had another LBM :j
This afternoon i am going to chill for a couple of hours and watch the latest two episodes of One Tree Hill online, then after then pop to my sisters. OH left for work at 1pm, so won't be back till 10.
I apparently bought all the expensive brands, it wasn't until i got home and unpacked all the stuff my OH said to me why didn't you just buy Sainsburys own brand stuff, that would've done. I think the nann bread, poppadoms and mango chutney bumped it up. I will definitely need to have a look out for 10p curry sauce.

Hey, just came across your diary and wanted to say hi!
Just been reading through your thread and the stories of Primark made me laugh! When i was at uni (and within walking distance to one) I would just 'pop in and have a look' and come end up with a basket chucking all sorts of things into itthat shop is dangerous
"I don't want to make money, I just want to be wonderful."
:rotfl:0 -
Hi Ziggy :hello:
I totally agree, that store is dangerous, everything is soo cheap you just chuck it in your basket and its not till you get to the tills you realise how much you've spent, but then i always justify it by then going to Miss Selfridge and looking at how expensive everything in there is, what i've spent in Primarko would've only got me a top in there. I therefore no longer pay silly money for jeans/tops/jumpers when i can pick them up in Primark for half the price.
I just so wish i didn't work 5 minutes walk away from the town, i need to work somewhere where there are no shops, that way i don't spend my lunch hour wasting money, especially as it gives you less to do on a weekend because i've spent all my money during the week :mad:The very best things in life ... are free!

Sounds like the carboot sale did some good in moneymaking and always another LBM! It does make you realise that you are wasting a lot of money. I really need to do another one soon.0
-
Well today didn't go as planned, i ended up spending £16, obviously a very short lived LBM! Arrghhh!
I popped into town and ended up buying some essentials from Boots, ladies things really should be free on the NHS i think, i also bought some sunglasses half price in Miss Selfridge, have put them away Mexico in November, and i bought a sale top for £7 in New Look. Unfortunately didn't stop there as had to pop to Sainsburys and pick up something for dinner. I have however told myself i am to spend no more money this week, if i can do that i will be soooo proud of myself.
I am currently saving £350 for a spending spree with my mate in October, we plan to get all our holiday bits. I am going with the bride so it will mean lots of spending. I plan to take £350 and when thats gone, its gone. I have seen a lovely outfit from Coast that i wouldn't mind trying on, its £100 but well worth it. If i don't like that i have seen one in Karen Millen.
Not much else to report, just about to turn the laptop off and snuggle with OH on the sofa!
