My DD is almost 7 and there is no way I'd not let her go to the park on her own - moreso if I knew she was being bullied in this manner. I think you have a choice, go with him and let him be embarrassed or stay at home and let him get the crap kicked out of him. Seriously, why are you letting him go out to get bullied? He is 7, not 17.

Next time it happens and they are still out there then call the police, they'll take the kids home and scare the sh*t out of them and then they might stop.

Call the police and speak to these kids parents. They ought to know what sort of brats there kids are....

Also take some video footage in case you need evidence if anyone tries to deny the bullying going on. Also send your son to karate so he can protect himself and give the brats a kick or two.

Why are you not calling the police?

What would they do though? I just assumed they would be unable to do anything and put it down to 'kids being kids'??

Bullying in my view is a crime... or is it only a crime when someone dies? I know this is extreme but if they are always at your son you never know how far it could go?

Could you go with him to the park and speak to these kids? Not alone of course but take your OH with you... you could always take photos of them and peg them to every tree and lamp post making people aware of them... they will have no friends! The mums and dads will also be equally embarrassed to know they have brats and not angels!

Have to agree with this. My DS is 7 and I wouldn't let him, certainly not in those circumstances. Can't you invite his own friends round to play?

For goodness sake dont do this or video them as advised by BB earlier. In this day and age you could end up getting yourself into trouble recording images of these kids without permission (although I can see the motive in suggesting it).

I really feel for you and your son, it sounds like a difficult situation. I don't really have any useful advice but i do agree with bluemonkey that none of my 4 would have be going to the park unattended at this age, but that doesn't excuse what is happening.

I think with the older children involved you should certainly think about contacting the police. That's the strategy that the police themselves have advised in our area with the few kids that cause trouble and bully others.

Good luck, I hope you find a way forward.

DH says it's what kids do and we need to leave them to get on with it. He goes into detail about when he was a boy which just scares me more!

I was bullied like this as a child too, but I didn't go to the park where they would all be. I spent all my time exploring on my own or with the few friends I did have. But it's not the day and age to go off exploring alone anymore.

Betty, I know what your getting at but taking pics of them wouldn't be a good idea. Plus we live in a village so we all know who is who (more or less) anyway.

Blue_monkey, he asks to go to the park, if I had it my way he would be staying in or only going with me, but that just sets him apart even more as all the local kids are out playing alone at his age and a lot younger.
