    lol............ Well, I did this the other day and how I chuckled.

    (I've been a Customer for 6 years btw and I have Sky Talk and Broadband.)

    Conversation went like this;

    Me; Hello. I'm thinking of cancelling my contract and going to Virgin.
    Sky; Ok then. We need 30 days notice.
    Me; Riiiight. :confused: Can I have the address then?
    Sky; Address given.
    Me; Thanks guys!

    Amazingly I wasn't happy with that and read the post about asking for the highest priced deal for a month and having free everything.

    So I rang back and spoke with a Scottish lady called Veronica in Sales this time.

    Oh the difference.

    I explained that my friend had the much better deal above and that Cancellations had told me to sod off - and that I wasn't very happy with this.

    She went away and spoke with her Manager and came back with; 'yes - you can have a free box and installation if you take the £46 package for one month. You have to pay the HD tenner a month after that (which is fine) and would you like multiroom for a tenner a month too?

    Well, yes I did actually. :beer:

    So.... instead of;
    a) Cancelling
    or
    b) Paying £49 for the box, £30 to install, PLUS my £40 (ish) normally AND having no multiroom - at a cost of £120.00

    I now have - all of the above; £70 for one month and then probably down to £50 a month after when I cancel movies and sports (unless they blow me away - lol) :j

    God bless 'er. :A

    maybe you got no better deal offered because you said "thinking of cancelling" and maybe they are wise to this. I wonder if you had said that "i would like to cancel" that an offer would have been given as you can cancel over the phone.
  • Hi guys, thought I'd let you know my experience - I called up to ask about sky+HD and were told it was £49 + £30 installation, plus an additional cost to relocate our current sky+box into another room.
    I tried to beat down the agent we spoke to, but were getting nowhere fast, so asked to be put through to cancellations.
    I spoke to a very nice lady there and explained that I was disappointed that customer loyalty was not rewarded witht he best available offers and that I was therefore considering moving to Virgin.
    Following the mention of the magic 'V' word, she offered me the box for £29 and installation for £15, including the relocation of the existing box.
    We obviously have to pay the additional monthly cost, but I thought this was an OK deal, so accepted.
    To be honest we really wanted the HD box so would have paid the original requested price, but it goes to show that it's worth trying your hand if you're thinking about the upgrade. :p

    Sorry, my bad. I'm pretty sure I did say I was cancelling - Virgin and no offers for existing customers etc.

    Just that if it helps anyone - I did this on Friday - so ask for the same lady. You might get lucky. How many Veronica's work for Sky I wonder? lol :confused:

    At the Manchester Skyride event yesterday, I noticed that the sales van was touting Sky+HD for EXISTING cusotmers at £29 (I didn't check the install price) this is becoming the norm highstreet price down from the £49, then £39 that has been before.

    I think therefore that getting it free by the threat of lost business, is not that much of a big deal for them - I would suspect that if you were to say suggest that you wanted to upgrade to Skytalk, Broadband, Sports, Movies, Multiroom then you'd likely get the damned box for free with free install, after all the amount they are now milking us all for is astonishing.

    I pay the measly sum of around £22 and instead get DVD's from TescoDVDrental for another £11.47 (plus points), and I get brand new movies, not 12 months old.

    As for multiroom, just hardwire a second cable and force other family members to watch what you do - more likely to come out of their rooms if you do! After all, that's what most multiroom is used for - watching Sky in bed.
    I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing! ;)

    Rang Sky yesterday. Got free Sky+HD plus free install(Monday). Yeah!!!
    Asked them why all the offers were for new customers. Been with sky a while but only take minimum package.

    What are you having to pay extra per month, from your £22.50 (is it?) a month previous to what?

    I will be paying from September £30.25 a month. Paying at the mo. £21 something I think. I am also having the HD box in a different room so that will involve some extra cabling. Guy at Sky said that was ok. Knew I would have to pay the monthly subsciption but very pleased with my deal.
