Just rang up to upgrade my phone package wth them and asked about HD. Woman would not let me have it for less that £79 - she said £49 for box and £30 for installation as i do not have multiroom. I argued that i have sky plus so why do i need to pay an installation fee for swapping a box over!?
Anyway i never took the HD package - will try again another day!0 -

There's no point in faffing around with the sales people tbh. You MUST go through to cancellations and make your demands. The 1st line sales people have no power to make deals.John

We ALL hate the new EPG in our house. Some of the new functions are good but the layout and the design are terrible.Herman - MP for all!0

I agree, always go through to cancel department, even if you have a box thats playing up and out of warranty, say ill cancel special word and bobs your uncle, they drop the £65 charge and come free. Works on loads of things when you are not in contract.
Cant wait for next year now.Kind Regards

Hi
We upgraded to sky hd via a deal on this website last August. Since the new HD box has been installed we've had buzzing from the box and about 5/6 complete freezes where any programmes you were due to record show a power failure.
The box was 11 months old so we asked an engineer to call. They changed the box without a problem but mentioned that the HD boxes still have some associated problems that are not sorted yet.
The new box has started playing up now and sometimes it says no signal is available. This is not due to bad weather or storms as the last time it happened we had clear blue skies. You can usually get channels 101, 102,103 and sometimes 104 at this time.
I will monitor the situation but might go back to normal sky plus. We've had the old sky plus box for years and its now used as the multi room box and never had a problem (touch wood) but we've now had two sky plus boxes within the space of 11 months with problems. I'm debating whether to cancel Sky HD when the contract expires on 4 Aug and then go back to the full package. At the moment we have sports and a few other packages.
Cabbage, that sounds like what had been happening to a friends HD box. Sky always blamed the cables running to the tv. Turns out loads of Thomson boxes have faults on them and each time an engineer changed the box they gave them another Thomson one, but always refurbished. She put her foot down this time and now has an Amstrad one and touch wood, not problems so far.0 -
When doing this do you have to pay for the HD box up front or do they put the cost onto the next bill?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0
