Been a customer for 2 years. I find you wont get anywhere with woman on the phone, dont know why this is. Found this with o2 and sky when calling them to ask for anything.

I see what you mean Bill :) I think I found the root of my problem too. The lady was very nice but refused to offer me any deals on my current package. I currently do not have Movies or Sports and she didn't check for deals if I added either - I don't know why you'd go for HD without one or the other but there you go!

I have been a Sky customer for less than 2 years. I called up last weekend threatening to cancel. They offer me a free Sky HD+ box and installation providing I took the top package for the month. So I took it save me paying £29 for the box and stuck on low package. But still got to pay the £9.97 per month for HD channels. So its not bad.

I got the same deal :)

Here's a breakdown of the deals you will get offered if you ask (I chatted to a great and helpful fella) ;)

All HD deals involve the £9.75 per month HD fee, there's no escaping that one. Also, if you are out of contract with Sky, these deals will put you back under contract for 1 month, after this time you can downgrade your package as you wish, obviously you can upgrade at any time.

    1) Sky Sports 1 (weekend Premier League/No Champions League or SPL) + HD = £31.50 per month + £9.75 monthly HD fee + £29 HD Box + £30 installation fee.

    2) All sports channels = £39.50 per month + £9.75 monthly HD fee + £29 HD box + Free installation.

    3) Everything package (movies, sports, etc) = £46 per month + £9.75 monthly HD fee + Free HD box + Free HD installation.

I called today and went for the 'everything package' as it's slightly the most cost effective over the duration of my months term. Also, I will get to experience 1 month's worth of HD movies before I downgrade to my sports only package.

Incidentally, I called today and am getting the HD fitted on Wednesday morning - Can't wait!!

    Cheers Bill for the OP.

i got a sky+box for £29 with free installation last week:j:j, my normal sky box broke down, i refused to pay the £65 they wanted for an engineer to come out and phoned to cancel, the girl was very helpful once i phoned to cancel (my inital call they were going to charge £160 for getting sky+). When the engineer came to install sky+ he said you have to play the game with sky, they would rather have your monthly fee than you cancelling so its worth trying.

When getting sky hd, you dont get the new EPG thats loads better, make sure you get a thompson box, they have had the update for 5 months now, so you are more likely get it. If you get an amstrad like me or a Samsung, be prepared to wait few months for new update. Ive got sky coming out as I cant use optic cable and dolby digital, if it doesnt work im gonna try get a Thompson box.
    Kind Regards
    Bill

I had hd installed last week and the guy said that you need it connected to your phone line other wise you wont get the new channels and updates that they regularly do because they are all done through the phone line.
