I will be paying from September £30.25 a month. I am also having the HD box in a different room so that will involve some extra cabling. Guy at Sky said that was ok. Knew I would have to pay the monthly subsciption but very pleased with my deal.

How did you initiate the call - what were you asking for, upgrade, cancellation, simple enquiry. Who dealt with it, sales, CS or someone else.

Did you use an 0870/0845 or some 'real' phone number

'Phoned the telephone number on sky site, asked for cancellations and started by saying I was a disgruntled customer who was trying to decide whether to go for freesat or SkyHD 'cos I'd just bought a new TV. I asked why it seemed that all the offers went to new customers and that I never received any offers -I asked was that because Virgin wasn't a contender for me? He asked me what offers I'd seen. I mentioned the Tesco one. First he offered me free installation and £49 for box. He said offers depend on day/week that you ring. Eventually he offered me a free box and free install. The conversation was very lighthearted and friendly.

Best they offered was £15 to get it installed, from cancellations.

He says that as I've only been with Sky 2 years that's the best he can do. I said I'd think about it.

Thing is, I've been with Sky since day 1, but have used my name, then wifes name then my name again, and all via high street set-ups where they happily cancel your old account and make a new one in a slightly different name (even at same address).

I might try again later and see if they can better it, but I'm not hopeful.

I tried to be nice and not confrontational, and he was nice enough, but stood fast even when I outright asked for it for free (nothing ventured..)

More often than not I think it's just the luck of the draw! Got to be worth another go though. Think what changed it for me was telling him I wanted it in another room. I think that's when the £49 disappeared. Don't know why though.

    Hi,

I phoned last week & best I could get was free install & box for £49.

They said othe only reason I got free install was because I was a loyal (9 years) customer.

My brother phoned half an hour later & got it for £15 install & free box. He has a higher package than me though & has 2 multi-rooms.

Mines is due to get installed on Sunday - his a few days later.

I presume everyone will then be paying the extra subscription (something like £9 something?) on top of their normal subscription when they get HD installed? Or are people gettting deals on that rate?

    Bump!! Bump!!!
  • I've been with sky for 10 years and called to cancel. Currently pay 49.75 per mnth to sky and 28.00 to virgin(for broadband and phone) and so wanted them altogether in 1 package.
Called Sky to cancel and all was offered was 5.00 off my multiroom for 6 months. I said that was insulting for 10 years service and all he said was tough...never offered me broadband, phone or even Hd....told him i was going to virgin and asked if i wanted to put 30 days notice on. Said no deals available now cos never tied into 12 month contract anymore.
All I wanted was some money off...

Phone again, speak to someone new, almost certain you will get better offer.

It's worth spelling out that might consider a combined package deal.

I have just phoned saying I want to cancel. All they offered was the HD box for £49 and free installation (still the £9.75 per month HD charge).
I am still currently cancelling - was hoping for a better deal!! I said I was had just got a new TV and was going to set Freesat. Got until 19th Sept for it to cancel.

Not sure what to do now! I suppose I have still saved £30 installation. I might phone back in a week or 2 and see what they say (saying I still want to cancel, but wonder what they had on offer etc).
