Hello - I'm new! I lost 2 stone in 8 months with SW - it really does work if you stick to the plan. My top tip would be have all your HEs and make use of your Syns (I was having 15 syns a day and it meant I never felt deprived).

I have been reading this board for a couple of months now - it's been a great inspiration for maintaining my target weight. You are all so positive and share such good advice. The recipes and passwords have been useful too; the passwords particularly, because I only weigh in every 2-3 months now just to keep me on my toes and keep me off that spiralling downhill path! There have been a few wobbles along the way but I'm doing OK again at the moment, with your help. My consultant was fine about my less regular weigh ins but it meant I wasn't at the classes every week to get the password.

And that's why I'm a bit miffed about the whole password thing because they say when you reach your target you have the luxury of being a non-paying member for as long as you are +3/-3lbs of your target weight. And...a benefit of being a member (paying or non paying) is the password to access the online info! So basically, I am being penalised for not going to class every week even though I am at target weight!

Originally my consultant was good enough to email me 2 weeks' worth of passwords at a time but now she's stopped doing the classes, I'm a bit stuck!

Does consultant31 have an idea as to how target members can continue to access the password without having to turn up at class every week? My consultant was going to raise it with SW HQ but not sure if she ever got round to it.

Thank you & good luck to everyone with their weigh ins this week.

And sorry if I've rambled on a bit but this password thing is a real bugbear of mine!

You don't have to do without the password. When your Consultant gave up, she will have passed all the record cards on to her successor, and yours will be among them. Ring (or email) SW HQ and ask for the phone number of the new Consultant for your area. If you ring her each week, she will give you the password.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Thanks very much. I thought there may have been a different way of obtaining the password (not sure what though!) but if phoning is the only way of getting it, then I'll do that. Infact, I'll see if she can email it me each week instead.

    Thanks again

Lois Lane, please can I join the 2lb club as well. My aim is 2lb per week. Managed it this week and want to keep up the momentum.

Thanks for the great idea and setting it up!

Hi Lois, great idea about the 2lb club, please can i join??

I re-joined SW last week, so tomorrow (Monday) will be my first weigh in. Hoping i have lost something - really tried to be good this week.
OH and I, plus some poor unsuspecting friends, went for a 7 mile walk today in the pouring rain, so hoping i have shifted a little bit at least!!!!! Great fun - so much mud, and a pint of diet coke in the pub on the way home (no chips either!!!!!! )

Good luck everyone for this weeks weigh in!!!!!
    What's he building in there???

Hello all, I still haven't shifted any more weight but I have moved classes to see if a new SW leader can get me motivated (I did love my old group tho - miss them). In many ways having lost the 2.5 stone, I am happy but there is probably 1.5 more to go. My weight loss stopped when I stopped smoking so I can live with it most of the time but it has been 7 or so months now...:o

The real reason I am making this post though is to say thank you for the chick pea cake recipe. :T My new instructor is so impressive and cool headed (I think she must have been a teacher) and it was lovely to see her face when she tasted the cake I made for the group (I hasten to add I am not a natural cook - at all). She was clearly delighted. :D
I do think food wise I am doing ok but I am having a problem with wine - first time round I didn't mind having a short with a diet mixer - this time I am having difficulty convincing myself it is worth it and I do love to have a couple of drinks a few times during the week.

    I wish you all well,

Welcome, Bluemoon, Fox2319, Charlene and Nades359.

Well done on the weightloss bobjacksmum and bobsa1.

Cat - I dont follow the SW plan myself but don't beat yourself up too much about the wine. You're more likely to succeed in your long term goals if you don't feel deprived of the things that you love. Allow yourself the odd glass of wine, enjoy it and don't feel guilty about it. Can it not be counted as syns?

    Good luck this week everyone.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.
Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.

Hi Cat - well done for giving up smoking, :T being a non-smoker is so much better for your health, and doctors always say giving up smoking is higher priority than losing weight.

The other thing is that wine (especially red) is actually good for you as long as you drink it in moderation, so a few drinks a week isn't going to do you any harm. Most evenings I have one glass of red, and my glasses hold 175mls (a quarter of a bottle), which is 6 syns.

Syn value for 125mls is 4.5 and for 142mls is 5 (for red and rose - white varies depending on sweetness).

    Cheers!

Wine is my weakness too but i am not beating myself up about it at the moment, I am losing weight just by altering my diet at the moment, and I will address the wine issue when I need too, at the moment I need to address one thing at a time and the food side of things is the first step, I still smoke and like to drink wine as well so have a journey to go if i want to get to where I want to be but right now I am just taking one step at a time like I say. well done on giving up smoking though cats pajamas, how long did you smoke for and how many etc??

i went out tonight to a friends 'do' at a pub and have had a few cheeky glasses of wine, there was so many skinny girls there that it really made me look twice at myself, i am not 'unhappy' as i am but I would love to look real nice and stuff (i hope you know what i mean) but am proud that I am on the right road!! :j keep it up everyone!!

    Thanks everyone.
I smoked up to 30/day and had been smoking for 16 years. I am still really surprised that I am succeeding with this. I had hypnotherapy on the encouragement of my boyfriend who is still smoking!!!!!!! It does feel great though and I am grateful to not have put on any weight.
I also appreciate the mention of our 'journeys'. There is a great pressure (much of it self applied) to be prefect especially when we are growing up. I was so sick of failing at everything; I developed entrenched habits to give me a quick fix/feel good factor. As I get deeper into my thirties I am seeing that it is all a journey and we do things 'little by little', when the time is right for us.
The wine is a worry because I loose the ability to count at 2 glasses and I am getting too old for hangovers where the horrors/fears set in and all the old self doubting and anxiety sets in. Over the last few weeks, I have thought often about not having any but when work throws a challenge at me that makes me feel off balance, I do look forward to having 'a' glass. Perhaps I should take a look at the alcohol thread...or maybe the encouraging words said in response to my last post are right and I should give myself a break.
Either way, I am a pretty happy person with lots of great things going on so forgive me if I sound a bit miserable.
