Lois Lane - how is the GI diet going? Getting results?

I go to a rosemary conley class but can't stick with her diet so am doing the Slimming world plan instead for now. Are you attending classes too?

Hi JenIttels - sorry, first chance I've had to read the message board for a couple of days!

To be honest, I'm struggling to stick to it. I don't go to classes, I'm just doing it on my own, and I think going to class does give you more willpower to resist foods you shouldn't eat. I know I have great willpower, and I can go for days rigidly eating the 'right' foods, but then blow it all like I did last night, by bingeing on chocolate.

I did SW for years and managed to lose 6.5 stone and call target, but sadly the weight has been creeping back on and I'm now only 4 stone lighter than when I started. I used to attend SW classes and I had a slimming buddy who lost 8 stone! I think going to class and the fact that we were supporting each other really worked.

I actually didn't get to the target I wanted to reach, which was another half stone, but I'd been struggling with that old 'lose a pound, gain a pound' experience for months and decided to be happy with how I was. I arrogantly thought I could maintain on my own, and stopped going to classes. That was over three years ago, so it isn't like I've regained the weight all at once, it's been a gradual process, but it's depressing that I can't fit into last year's summer clothes and the feeling that I've got nothing to wear.

Losing so much weight was great, I still feel the benefit of it, and I think part of the problem is that even though I've regained, I'm not as unhappy with the way I look now as I was when I first started, which was the impetus I needed to do something about it.

I am determined I'm not going back to my original weight, but I need something to inspire me - last time I was looking forward to my silver wedding anniversary, and that was my goal. I've tried setting myself a target to lose weight by my next holiday, but it hasn't worked so far.

I'm hoping that I'll get the inspiration I need from everyone here!

You really should take a look at the Old Style boards. That's where all the recipe and home ideas are located. Nice bunch too....I'm sure they'll come up with something for you.
