I have a very old copy. Some things are good, some are pretty awful but until you try the recipes yourself, you won't know. If there's anything in particular you want, let me knowI haven't got one!0

Its just that I am only doing green days as I am a veggie so wondered if it may be worth getting hold of a copy?? I am trying to stick to as much syn free food as I can to fill me up as I have a weakness for the odd glass of wine and chinese take-away (obviously choose the lower syn options) so was thinking I need to stick on the straight and narrow most of the week if poss :embarasse
I not finding this plan easy at the mo, I think I need to do a bit of forward planning rather than just grabbing stuff out the cupboards and hoping for the best
thanks cheekymole!Official DFW Nerd 2100 -
Rachie,
I get a bit like that sometimes. I'm eating a whole packet of Tesco Vegetable Savoury Rice as I type. It's syn free and it means that I can eat that AND have tea with OH at 8pm when he gets home from work!!!!I haven't got one!0 -
Tesco Vegetable Savory rice - is that the mircowave stuff or the one you add water to? I had one or two of the uncle bens mircrowave ones and they were between 1 & 2 syns each so not bad, but free is better! I just need to fill up a wee bit (am trying to ignore the fact i got stroppy and ate a bar of chocolate at 3pm) where possible so i dont fill up on the junk!
How do you find out about these yummy free foods? The website isnt the most friendly to trawl through the whole site looking at the A-Z list??Official DFW Nerd 2100 -
You can microwave it or cook in the pan.
A general tip is that ambient packets have syns but dried don't. Also fresh pasta has syns but dried doesn't (please don't ask why as I ain't got a clue!)
I think it's just knowing which foods are free really although SW do a book listing many free foods which fits in your bag for when you're out shopping.
Another delicious syn free easy meal is Morrisons Spicy bean and rice casserole. I have it with a bit of natural yogurt on top.I haven't got one!0 -
Do you know if you can buy the actual SW books online (i.e. the list of syns and the general guide on what to do etc) or only at the lessons? I have looked on Amazon and they seem to only have a selection of books and not ones other people have told me about that have bought from SW classes??
I guess that the fresh pasta & rice etc has more fats in it to keep it more bendy and fresh?? or something like that??Official DFW Nerd 2100 -
You can't buy them online unless you look somewhere like ebay. You can buy the recipe books etc but not the main ones that tell you what to doI haven't got one!0

Well done Cotsvale! you can do it.
I got weighed on Sunday and hadn't lost anything this week- stayed the same.
So I've still lost 9lb in 4 weeks (it was star week this week) I really hope for a better weigh in on sunday.
Been on a green day today and had one healthy extra of some ham.
Really fancy some porridge now so does anyone have any details of how much I can have (dry weight) - I'm going to make it with skimmed milk and water- help really appreciated!0 -
Hi sam & swizzle, sorry just scrolled back and saw your posts about how can you get your hubbys to eat healthy food so you/him can lose weight... I find that both the Slimming World and Weight Watchers plans allow you to eat 'normal food' as long as you watch what you eat the rest of the day, for example you could have a chinese takeaway and you can look up how many points on each plan that it is and you make sure you are careful the rest of the day, you can get the books that tell you how many points all the known brands of food are, you just need to make sure you choose carefully what you want??
Recently I made a vegetarian lasagne (I am on slimming world) and it had NO SYNS in it, with a little adaptation I made my OH and the kids a meat version with full fat cheese sauce and cheese on top and they eat that one... Its harder than normal to make a seperate meals but if you can ween them on to healthier eating bit by bit you are on to a winner!
Good luck and if you need any more help let me know cos I have a OH and kids who dont like the healthy eating thing (my kids wont eat vegetables either for love nor money - but they are only tiny!!) but I just make really nice dinners from the WW or SW recipe books and they dont notice the difference!!Official DFW Nerd 2100
