Well done Connected on your weight loss so far:j Your diet sounds pretty good and healthy, but although you are getting exercise walking, you need to do some specific exercises that target the stomach area.

You probably aren't overweight now at all, but the fat is still lingering where you don't want it to be :p

I understand your reluntance to go to the gym :D , doesn't appeal to me either, but how about doing stomach crunches and other abs exercise at home? You don't need any special equipment, but I would get a book or video to make sure you are doing it properly. My Pilates instructor told me that you can actually make your stomach bigger (rock hard, but bigger  ) by doing stomach crunches incorrectly. For example, you should always be making the effort (sitting up) on the out breath, and lowering to the floor on the in breath. Also, don't put your hands behind your head and jerk your neck as you sit up. A book or video will point you in the right direction.

Good luck and congratulations on getting so far on your own! Some effort on specific exercises will soon give you the body you want

I've always thought that no matter how many abs crunches/sit ups that you do, it won't make a difference until you lose the body fat. And your body decides where the fat gets burned off, so it could take a while to shift. So for all I know, I could have good stomach muscles, but it's being concealed under the stomach fat.

I'm not a fan of running - I like to do excercise I enjoy, so football is a great for that. But I'm in a isolated area, and I don't drive, and therefore difficult to get to do these activities.

    Thanks Sparky. :)

    Morning campers,

Re: exercise dvds. My experience is very limited but i recently got the Davina 'power of three' dvd which isn't too bad in my opinion. I've done it a couple of times and it certainly makes me work! I'm going to be trying out some others when my dvd rental company send them out to me.

Had some of boyfriend's birthday cake last night (not to mention the celebratory pub lunch and the chinese take out various friends insisted on). Have been pretty good otherwise so still hope to lose.

I'm really hungry...must eat everything in my desk drawer :)

    Hi Lois and everyone

Stayed the same this week, boo hoo! . Haven't eaten anything I shouldn't, but maybe I've had a bit too much of 'allowed' food :D

My IBS is still brilliant, so will try and stick with it a bit longer. I'm going away with a friend for a girlie overnighter next w/e and will be breaking diet then, as it won't be fair on her otherwise (that's my excuse anyway!;) ). We've been planning this for ages, and drinking is involved!!! :D

Hope everyone else has done well this week. I've lost 6lbs altogether over 5 weeks, so although it's slow it's better off than on :p

Thanks Lois for keeping the chart :A

There's a nice onion-bhaji-a-like recipe here. I made these a few days ago and they were lovely. :)
