can anyone recommend me anything ie diets or somthing im thinking of a low carb one but can anyone tell me the good and bad points of it and possibly recommend me anything else
thanks
I must admit I'm biased towards Slimming World. I've done every diet known to man, and have never found one half as good (for me) as SW. There is so much choice andif you don't want to eat carbs, you can follow the red/original plan and keep them to a minimum. I would not recommend any 'crash' or 'faddy' diet. They may work in the short term, but they are impossible to stick with, and then you tend to put all the weight back on, plus some more
I know there are lots of people who prefer Weight Watchers, but I've done that (and got the gold pin, lol) but I like my food and there was never enough to eat for me - I used to go to bed early as I was so hungry, having had all my points by 6pm :rotfl:
At the end of the day, it's down to what works for you - I believe a healthy eating plan is the best way to go since, hopefully, you'll be able to stick with it for life.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Hi Lois (and everyone else)
Have weighed myself after first week and am down 3.5lb:j
Cheating slightly as weighed last friday in afternoon (had to buy scales first:D ) but will normally do so in a morning so I'm claiming all of it anyway:rotfl:0 -
Thanks for that! My food directory is at least two years old, so I was thinking of updating. I love green days, I am the carbohydrate queen. I seem to be losing weight much quicker this time, which is really strange. It took ages initially with SW, second time round it's just dropping off.Space for rent, apply within - Free trial on Thanks button though0

Hi Guys,
I'm with Sparky G on the good affects that you can get from following a low carb sensible diet.
I have Crohns Disease and have had it for 37 years and have never did so well than when I followed the atkins diet. My hospital consultant was impressed with the results and I lost over 2 stone. It is hard to keep going long term as I like my carbs...especially my mash potato.
In terms of weeding out the intolerance foods you could see a nutritionist who would be able to assist with this.
Also as DellyBelly mentioned the reflexology thing to help ease stress is great but you could also consider a relaxation hypnotherapy session which you can practice at home whenever you want to/start to feel stressed as it's also very effective.
Anyway I've just come back from hols and need to get my head down and get on with the diet.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

I wonder if anyone can help. I was wondering how many syns are in the new snack a jacks popcorn and how many in the sharwoods korma light (in a square jar). Any help gratefully appreciated.0

The snack a jacks popcorn is 7 1/2 syns for the butter toffee 35g bag!!!!!
The salted 13g bag is only 2 1/2 syns!
The sauce :- if it's Sharwood's Indian Cooking Sauce, Korma, Reduced Fat, Salt & Sugar, jar 420g jar is
21 1/2 syns per jar!

hi sazale I hope I can be of some help. I go to sw every week and i think the salted popcorn was about 3.5syns and the butter one was about 7 dont know exactly but I know butter was a lot higher. Also I have looked in my new food directory and all I can find is sharwoods korma sauce reduced fat, salt and sugar 420g jar which is 21.5 syns on both days0

Hello all, well as expected I had a ''likkle'' gain last night
- didn't think I would say anything but told the SW group about BF buying me chocolate cake and got the support I needed - SW leader said if it happens again i should make him wear it.
About the chickpea cake - a question. Last night one of the really experienced ladies asked if it might be similar to cous cous cake which they believed ended up being syns because of how the couscous was used? Does that ring any bells for anyone? The whole class went from being delighted to have found something so tasty to kinda tearfull....
By the by, I have a recipe for the recipe thread - north african spanish omlette.
Bye for now, and well done to everyone for being proactive - my SW leader swears by small changes.:A

hubby just phoned he wants to get chinese tonight cos he had no lunch - its so difficult to say no, although its so warm today i don't really feel like eating anything! its my weigh in day tomorrow and I've been reasonably good all week so lets hope that I've lost some, its always difficult the first week because if nothing's come off - it puts you off and you lose the will, although if its a good first week it spurs you on do do even better! ah well we'll just have to see 14 hours to go - maybe i'll exercise like mad tonight and try to sweat the fat away!DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY
