Money_Man_Steve wrote:Hello Everyone!
Help - I could do with a few suggestions!
Have been doing SW since before Christmas and am very happy having lost 1st 10lbs, and being able to fit back in to some of my clothes that I had become too big for!
I am about 2lbs under my 'Club 10' weight, but for the last four weeks I have stayed the same, and I'm starting to get irritated with it! I'm still overweight according to the charts, and I'm certainly not 'slim' - ideally I'd like to lose another 14-21lbs.
I'm vegetarian, so I'm on the green choice every day. I don't cheat (don't usually feel the need to, and have pretty strong willpower at the moment!) and I have 8-10 syns a day on average. I don't always have all four of my healthy extras, and I measure them all (except for skimmed milk, which I may exceed by 50-100ml on some days, but then I don't always have two A-choice HE's).
I also cycle to work and back, although admittedly it is only about 12 mins each way. I do like my pasta and potatoes though, and tend to use these to fill up on when I'm really hungry, along with (v. low fat cottage cheese, quorn, bananas, apples, tinned spaghetti, etc.)
The way I see it, my options are:
1. continue as I am and hope that I start losing again soon, or;
2. have a go at Success Express, and/or;
3. do more exercise (maybe it's time to get back to the gym!)
Does anyone else please have any other suggestions that may help?
Thanks in advance...
Money Man Steve
I'm sure you don't cheat (what would be the point?), but it is easy, after doing the plan for a while, to be a little lax with the weighing and measuring. I suggest you go back to basics, get out your book and double-check the weight allowed for ALL your HEs and syns. Don't cut back on the HEs, you need these to keep you healthy, also the fibre included in the HEBs will keep you 'regular'. The HEAs are vital for the calcium content (there is mounting evidence that consuming extra calcium actually helps weight loss).
Also don't cut back too far on the syns - in fact you should be able to continue to have 15 (sickeningly men can get away with this more than women)
One last thing - are you drinking at least 2 litres of water every day? This really does help weight loss.
I'm sure things will start moving again soon. Don't stress, just enjoy food optimising - there's nothing quite like it! :beer:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

I went back to class after missing last week and falling off the wagon - I lost a pound! Happy days. I bought the new magazine so will read that later - i think I am focussed again.
Steve - I'm sure consultant31 (who is a SW consultant) will be along shortly to offer some advice - in the meantime, well done on a fabulous weight loss so far :T
Consultant31 - can you explain success express - (in easy terms :rotfl: its been a long day )
For success express:-
Every day you have 3 meals following the 2 to 1 plate principle. Fill two thirds of the plate with superfree foods (those free on both plans) and one third with foods that are free on green or red (or you can have green and red together).
You still get your HEs and 5 - 15 syns a day as part of a meal or snacks. Where syn values differ on Green or Red, you must count the higher syn value.
Snacks, starters or desserts that are not superfree or HEs are counted as syns. For example smoked salmon as a starter must be synned because it's not superfree. A starter such as melon is superfree.
Sorry if this is not very clear, to be honest it doesn't matter how I put it, it never sound any clearer
If you want a 7 day plan I can email it to you, that may help!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
1st weigh-in tomorrow........here's hoping for 2lbs!!!Must learn not to count chickens before they are hatched!!!!:D
Every day is a new challenge not a new problem!:p

Well Done Honey, you managed to stay on the straight and narrow.... 1lb off is a great result.
Good luck tomorrow tryingtobegood. I'm sure you'll get a great result.
Lois, was it you who told me that to maintain was better than to gain? Thanks for your support.... Good luck with the SW plan. And I understand you signing up for RC classes for the exercise. I did it for that reason too. (Unfortunately, the classes near me have ended - so I've decided to be a good little mse'er and walk instead!Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
dellybelly wrote:My suggestion is, are you sure that you're eating enough food. If you read through this thread, you'll find that a lot of people plateau because they're not eating enough and their body goes into "famine mode" or something like that. Also, have you tried swapping your pasta etc for the wholemeal kind? You might find that you'll feel a lot more satisfied and eat a lot less.
Also, if you combine eating a bit more food along with upping the intensity level of your exercise, you might find that you'll overcome your plateau. It doesn't have to be as much as joining a gym. What about trying to beat your best time cycling to/from work.... , try to make it in 10 minutes or less!consultant31 wrote:I'm sure you don't cheat (what would be the point?), but it is easy, after doing the plan for a while, to be a little lax with the weighing and measuring. dellybelly wrote:Hi Mirtos,
I have to say, I don't envy you taking xenical. I was prescribed it by my doctor a few years ago but I had so many bad side effects I had to stop taking it.
You should be proud of yourself, cos I know that you have to prove that you're willing to lose weight before you'll even be prescribed it. How much weight did you have to lose? Taking pills isn't cheating, look at all those ads for weightloss pills... you know the ones I mean. Other people take herbal remedies, why shouldn't you take something to help you along the way.
Well done on your achievements so far and keep up the good work! Let us know how you're doing.
Dellybelly.
Yes. People keep saying that, but other than a little bit of wind, and a slight tummy ache if i ate too much fat in the first couple of weeks, it has been amazing. And now I've got myself into the low fat habit, even those effects have pretty much gone! Thanks for being so supportive!!!!Official Debt Free Wannabe Nerd Club member 095! Debt Now:

Hello everyone, can I join you please?
I want to lose 2 stone, and I simply can't seem to do it on my own. I can't go to slimming classes because I have two toddlers and a hubby who works away a lot, and I need lots of motivation. So, as MSE support has helped me save money, I'm hoping that same support will spur me into actually taking action instead of making excuses about starting my diet tomorrow so that I can eat a Snickers bar!
Do I need to do anything to join you, or do I just come and chat on here?0
