  • Richard - In both the SW clubs I have been to, the men seem really relaxed although I am sure it must have been a nightmare until they got to know everyone. If you can have a look at some of the men's success stories in the SW magazine, it will almost certainly inspire you - they look like completely different people - and gorgeous.

Lois - have you tried the really dark bitter chocolate. Some people in class swear that if they have only a little piece, it takes 'the need' away.

    Hi all,
I am a 25 year old man and have got to the stage where i need to do something about my weight, I am 6.2 but now weigh in at 17 stone. The girlfriend is also overweight and she has mentioned going to SW classes and following it.

    I suppose my questions are:
    - If i go to classes will i stand out as a youngish bloke and look stupid, no offense but is it just for women?
    - Have any men had any success on the SW or does something like Atkins work better?

Any advice would be great, thanks,
    Richard

I have a very gorgeous young man at my class who comes with his wife (also 2 older men also accompanied by wives). The thing is, they are spoilt to death by all the ladies. David (the young one) loves the attention and my goodness, don't men lose weight well on the SW plan!! There is so much to eat, that you should never be hungry and I'm sure you will be delighted at the way the weight drops off. Go for it - you've nothing to lose but weight!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Katyk, there's no need at all to be ashamed at what the scales say - we're all here for the same reason. I smiled at your comment about weighing the same as your skinny son - I could do with scales like those, lol.
While exercise is recommended, there's no need at all to pay for it. One of the best exercises there is, is walking and you don't need expensive equipment to do it, maybe you could borrow someone's dog!!
Now the weather is getting better (I hope) it's easy to walk more - get off the bus a couple of stops away from your destination, walk to the shop instead of getting the car out (specially if you don't want much shopping, the extra weight on the way home burns extra calories). Even if you have to use the car, park as far from the shop door as you can - every little helps. Start out doing 10-15 minutes a day (brisk walking) for 3 days a week and work up to 30 minutes on 5 days a week. It can amount to a weight loss of up to 1½ stones a year, without dieting!

Well I am back home after my holiday. I had intended to eat out there as I normally do, fish, loads of salads, plenty of exercise.....................but after my dissapointment of dieting and not losing any weight, I pigged out.
However, due to the fact that the Dr. put me on tablets for my Thyroid problem (reason I didn't lose any weight on a 6 wk diet), I was weighed at the hospital yesterday and had lost 7lb!!!!
And that's only since I started taking the tablets 2 1/2 wks ago.
So it was a medical problem all along.
Now all I need to do is get a kick start back onto the diet :(
Hope everyone has been keeping up with all the good weight loss that was going on before I went away!

Hi Folks and especuiall to all the new members - there are loads this week.
Welcome back LilacLille - and what an entrance! Well done on the weight loss - thats a great kick start.

Pumpkinpie - there's a bit of each weight loss plan on here so post away - SW, WW, whatever! Good luck with the weight loss - don't put it off anymore - the hardest part is making the first step and joining class.

I haven't been on much this week - had a stinking cold and have generally been in rotten form - have perked up now though cos its the weekend!!

Have a good one all of you!

    Hello all

Up until March I was going to SW regularly and was doing well, averaging 3lb a week but now I'm on unpaid maternity leave so can't afford to go anymore, now I've found this thread and I'm thrillled! Unfortunately most of that weight has gone back on so I really need to get back on track.

We have just booked our wedding which is 42 weeks away, that is my main goal. I have been looking at dresses for the last week and I don't like what I see. I'm not going to be unrealistic, I just need to lose enough to like what I see and feel good about myself, I need to feel stunning before I can look stunning.

Can I join your 2lb a week club please?

    Janine x
