My pet peeve is description in a block with no spaces. No attempts at paragraphing. Really annoys me.
Deceptive pictures of the same item in about 10 different poses to make it look like you're getting more.

It is DAMN annoying that ebay don't make it clear though.VanyaHargreeves wrote: »Tbh I don't think 14 days is very long for shipping from thailand. I wouldn't leave a neg.
Yes I did make the mistake of thinking it must be in the UK, the item was sold on eBay UK and in GBP with a deceptive 'item location' field and also a deceptive listing. The listing did not say the item was coming from the UK, nor did it say it was coming from Thailand.
Yes 14 days is very good for an item from Thailand over the xmas period, but that's not the point is it? Also, although relatively fast, it is still the top end of the delivery estimate. I was probably just lucky for it to arrive so fast, other buys may not be so lucky. The listing said 4-14 days, there's no way an item in the standard post could get from Thailand to my door in 4 days, very misleading.
When I sent them a message after noticing the item was coming from Thailand, the seller wasn't helpful at all. Their English was so bad they couldn't even tell me if the item had actually been shipped yet or not.
I think it deserves a neg but will probably just leave a neutral. The bottom line is this seller continues to sell with the exact same item description, after I told them I felt the description was not accurate and was quite deceptive.
The trouble with leaving a neutral feedback is it may go completely unnoticed and other buyers could end up in the same boat as me. If there was a neg then it would set off alarm bells to buyers before the buyer even looked at the sellers feedback. Perhaps if the last buyer that this happend to had left a neg then I might have avoided this situation, maybe I have a duty to leave honest feedback so that other buyers are aware of this.0 -
Personally I'd not even leave a neutral, just a positive but mark down on p+p, but you know, we're all different and all that. And I always look at the neutrals as well as the negatives.
In my own humble opinion, the item got to you fine, and 2 weeks isn't too long over a christmas period, and you don't mention anything being wrong with the item itself, so I think a neg would be very harsh.Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0 -

What I was getting at with the neutrals is a neutral doesn't have an effect on the feedback percentage, where as a neg does. So if there was a neg it would prompt buyers to look for the leg. If I leave a neutral then as far as the actual listing is concerned the seller will look like he has 100% positive.
I can't believe how so many people would roll over and accept this and actually leave a positive feedback. Dishonest feedback if a major problem with eBay.
In my view if your selling on country X's eBay site, and selling in country X's currency, you should be clear in the listing if the item is not coming from that country, secondly you should not mislead or deceive the buyer by putting "express shipping" in the item location field. The item location field is meant exactly for that. I will not be leaving a positive, I will be reporting this seller to eBay. Hopefully my actions will stop other buyers from falling for this - something I wish somebody else had done before me.
Anyway, as I said before this is a great thread for sellers to pickup some tips and is already very long so I will stop discussing my issue. Thanks for your suggestions/opinions.:money:0 -
worst one for me the other week.
Guy selling an item within 5miles of where i live. Asked him does he allow pickups / arrange location.
reply was:

i have some t&c on my listings as I get so fed up with people. It really riles me when they moan about postage after they have bought or ask to pay by cheque when i state paypal only. Yes I am bitter haha
sorry, i'm probably one of those people you all hate. BUT I don't have musical listings

This doesn't put me off when looking for things to re-sell but would if I were buying for me. I hate it when you see sellers who have listed clothes where the pic of the item looks like its been screwed up in a corner of the wardrobe for ages then they have just pulled it out and photographed it as is. Presentation is everything when selling. So I buy some of these items for 99p, then wash and iron the item and re-list, then make a profit. This practise probably annoys some people oh well.
Another thing that annoys me are sellers who put items that require free postage such as books and dvd's in the wrong category then charge £3 for p&p of a light item to send second class normal delivery.
I do put 2 t&c in my listings, that I don't send abroad and that I dispatch to paypal registered addresses only. I include this because I got sick of people winning auctions then asking me to send items to unregistered work addresses ect where I don't get seller protection. Won't send outside of uk because of the hassle, I quote the buyer the price for international recorded delivery then they complain at the price. I will only send my items through a service which requires a signature.0 -

I started buying on eBay just one week ago. One of the first things to put me off was seeing many items from one seller all described as fab, beautiful or gorgeous: this devalues the English language, and judging by the photographs was not true anyway.
I came across the following page, and did not know what to make of the description:
