Ebay have set up silly rules on capped postage on books of £2.75, so a seller who sells heavy textbooks have to absorb this extra cost. That is probably one reason why they can't do combined postage.

From October books join the other 'free' categories on postage.

Thanks soolin, already know, but was just saying on Ames post about why sellers can't offer combined postage on books. :o

Thanks for that, I didn't know about the capped postage or the making it free. What is their reasoning for this? All I can see happening is no-one selling on ebay anymore.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Just thought of another one - when clothes are listed as having the labels cut out. I know that it's the law, but surely they can just cut a chunk out, enough that it can't be taken back to a shop, but leave enough so that you can tell it really is of the brand it says. Even just a tiny strip so that you can see it's the right colour.

The label isn't cut out to stop returns though it is cut out so that the clothes cannot be sold as premium brands by non authorised sellers. The better makes, even some of the high Street ones don't want their stuff sold off cheaply, they would rather you bought the latest seasons fashion direct from the shop. However they won't destroy clothes so they sell them on just as clothes rather than as 'xx' brand.

There is a seller on my local market that alledges he sells all M and S seconds, and people buy yet it is obvious they are just normal cheap things with labels cut out and never saw the inside of an M and S store ever. He gets closed down every now and then, but he soon starts up again with slightly altered claims for a while, but then goes back to selling 'M and S seconds'.

I hate the way they only have 1 line of description & the rest is a multicoloured mix of twaddle!

Multiple Purchases can cause excessive delay in invoicing, so instead of combining postage a relavent free gift will be given

Thanks Soolin, I've seen many listings where they say the labels are removed as a legal requirement to stop shop returns, I'm too naive for my own good!
