As a buyer what puts you off a listing?

surely if they post it to you fair and square they cannot be deemed responsible for the actons of Royal Mail...One of the most annoying thing to me is when they say they will not be held responsible for items lost in the post.
I've only had one item I was expecting go missing and the seller had this written as part of their T&Cs. The transaction was a complete nightmare. It really put me off buying anything from someone else that has it as part of their auction terms.

I would suggest reading this thread from the beginning..this is most peoples pet peeve and it is a nonsense statement from any seller. It is up to the seller to ensure that buyer gets their goods and whilst they can't stop things going missing, they can be prepared to refund once it seems likely that something isn't going to arrive.
Any seller that thinks otherwise is in for a huge shock, paypal will just give it back to the buyer from the sellers account anyway. It really annoys me when people wont give postage discounts for more than one item. If I'm buying half a dozen books from someone then I'm likely to go slightly higher on the bid price for the convenience, but if it costs them half as much to send them all in one go I don't see why I shouldn't have a little bit knocked off.
Oh, and immediate payment when I'm buying a 99p book annoys me too.
Other than that I think all my pet hates have already been covered.
Depends on the item though - for example, one thing I sell goes as a large letter but if there are two, it would push it into packet size, which would cost more than twice as much to post. So if someone buys two, they get two posted separately and hence no discount. (I do combine postage on other items though)They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
I look at the postage, and if it's too much, then I just don't bid.
THings that put me off a listing are over-stringent rules (including statements that are against ebay policy) and complaints about timewasters.
I also check out sellers feedback.0 -
When sellers say that its an unwanted present, but they have 3 for sale!!0

Why? You've got to pay for it somewhen
Because I'm a book junkie and don't usually stop at one. I like to be able to go through the seller's whole list, and buying them one at a time is just a waste of time, not to mention looking silly on my bank statement!
I just don't understand why they want immediate payment for a couple of quid, I could understand it if it was something for say £50 and they don't want the hassle of having to chase and relist if the buyer doesn't pay, but for something at 99p it just seems petty and paranoid. In my opinion anyway.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Sellers that blatantly lie in the description:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2-100-Genuine-Tickets-For-The-Saturdays_W0QQitemZ190325616961QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Tickets_Tickets_LE?hash=item2c504a7141&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
Firstly, they weren't won in a competition they were given away free (there's even a link knocking around on here somewhere in the Freebies board...)I won these tickets in a competition but I am unable to attend as unfortunately its my grandfathers funeral that day!
Secondly, since when were funerals arranged so far in advance (11 days from now... possibly up to 18 days from the listing date)Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

For high volume sellers If you have to chase up for mutiple 99p listings it can be a bit of a pain (and time consuming) at least by paying immediate payment on it you reduce this problem0 -

Ebay have set up silly rules on capped postage on books of £2.75, so a seller who sells heavy textbooks have to absorb this extra cost. That is probably one reason why they can't do combined postage.0
