Thanks for the advice. I've just had a quick look at Amazon and I think I'll be putting all the books I want to get rid of on there. If I make any cash I'll be a happy mad.
Good luck to you all.
Thanks,

I love selling books on Amazon. When I finished uni I sold all my text books, for really good prices too. I would throughly recommend it!October make £10/day currently £11.020

One question - do you send the items first class, in jiffy bag?
Is proof of posting ok in a dispute? The word is BOUGHT, not BROUGHT.
It's LOSE, NOT LOOSE.

Hello, it depends on what you sell. Some stuff is listed at 0.01p, but remember there is postage on top of that, so if you can post it for less than amazon charge the buyer then you make some money.
TBH I only sell books that I think will make money like text books, or topical books, hard back books too.
Try because you've nothing to loose, if it doesn't sell it doesn't cost you anything.

I usually send mine 2nd class in a jiffy bag, or envelope with bubble wrap. I keep proof of postage incase the book doesn't get there.grex9101 wrote:One question - do you send the items first class, in jiffy bag?

brranger - Amazon gives you £2.75 as postage credit. An 'average' paperback fiction will cost about 80p to post second class. So you have £1.95 left over. After you've taken out the 86p completion fee you have £1.09. VAT on 1p selling - nothing, so you make around a pound. Not much - but it is so little hassle listing and sending the books it is actually worth it I think.
grex - I send the items in a jiffy bag (new or used), usually 2nd class. I email the buyers and tell them I've sent it 2nd class, I've never had a complaint, and Amazon doesn't tell you how you should ship them apart from that they should be packaged well, and you have to ship within 2 working days. As for proof of posting or insurance, I never bother unless it is a fairly expensive book - otherwise, I don't think it is worth it. The most I would lose on most of my books is £1 or £2, in case of a dispute. Have a look on the Marketplace FAQs for more information on what to do about disputes. Amazon encourages buyers and sellers to settle their own problems by personal email, they can't force a refund I don't think but do have their 'safe buying guarantee' which will refund the buyer at no cost to the seller, if the seller refuses to refund. (Most of the amazon fee of 86p goes towards funding this 'guarantee'.0 -
they do seem to take rather a lot off you though dont they? I personally am using green-metropolis which is slower, has a limit of £3 per book but they take nothing off you.
Had one sale so far:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
