Going great guns on the tablecloth, well sort of. My john clayton flower chart arrived this week and i thought tonight whilst I was looking for the blue for the flowers on the tablecloth, (done pink flowers, and allthe yellow centres on the cloth)I would sort out the threads for it. However the threads that I thought were DMC/Anchor are not they are random makes all with numbers on - does anyone know how I can correlate them to either DMC or anchor, and if there is such a thing as a thread booklet for both.
However think I will be on ebay buying more threads to start the panel off.

Got a long train journey tomorrow and monday morning so hoping to get a lot of sewing done, might take the tiger as it packs down smaller, was going to treat myself to a stitching magazine, any recommendations?

There seems to be loads of conversion charts here for various threads, maybe they will help. http://www.needlepointers.com/ShowArticles.aspx?NavID=1558

    Morning everyone

*Louise* -I never add backstitch etc unti I have washed and pressed the fabric -so that there is no chance of them going baggy.... Im not looking forward to it mind .
Im probably looking at Johnsons crafts for my threads -45p each is the best I have seen so far -unless anyone knows anywhere cheaper (don't do e-bay)oh and I did see them cheaper but they wound them onto those card bobbins -and I don't like that :p-it means getting them sent to my mum (luckily it will be free postage) and then mum sends them on to me :D. Im glad I found the piece of fabric I got to do the orange lady as its saved me spending nearly another £10 on a pieace big enough :j-the number of threads I need come to about £26 -but I should have some left at the end of it ..
Im still trying to convince myself to do one of the kits I have -so I "might" be very good and do one of those.... have another UFO to finish first though..but its one of my celtic ladies and they are lovely to do -so I don't mind ;)
Oceemer -there are quite a few conversion charts on line -with coloured squares to compare your thread against -OR you can buy the DMC chart which has samples of each thread inside (a bit like the hair colour books in hairdressers) but its about £15 -I got mum one for a pressie as she likes a lot of the thea gouveneur designs -but she does all hers in single strand  -so mum gets the kits and then buys extra threads and does them in double ;)
right -back to settle down with some sewing
Hope everyone has a good day :D

Is it DMC threads you need? Celtic Rose Needlecraft recommend another site where DMC colours are 33p each. I've never used the other site, but Celtic Rose are excellent, so they'd be silly to risk their own reputation by linking to a dodgy seller.

    Hi there Misty blue
Thats great thankyou -I have looked on there before but I couldn't remember then name as I just stumbled across it :rotfl:....everything I picked kept showing up as needing "back ordering" -so I have just e-mailed them to see how long I would have to wait -as I don't need them in a hurry -so I will report back once I get an answer and if I use them I will report back... would be a nice saving if they are good -12p on a thread soon adds up when you need 50+:D

    Hi all,

MrsMicawber, I've never heard of anyone doing backstitch etc after washing the fabric, you learn something everyday.

Didn't manage to do any UFO's yesterday on my designated day, and I'm kicking myself for buying a new kit on Saturday at the charity shop - not cross stitch, but a dolls house type cafe in a picture , hard to pass up, especially at £2. I'm a bit annoyed as I packed away all my dolls houses this year as I wanted to concentrate on UFO's and organising the house.

    Afternoon all

:j:jI sat in the car looking at it and its only over 4 A4 sheets (which hubby will be copying at work as they are back to back and I cut my chart into chunks ;)) -I thought it would be quite quick after all only 4 pages -then I looked at the thread list and it didn't seem to bad until I saw it went over 3 pages -a total of 90 threads required :rotfl: I can see a lot of 1 of this and 2 of that will be going on :p -I wil be checking my folder in a moment to see how many I have and how many I will need :D
Im going to be doing it on 28ct even weave using 2 strands over 2 -so it will end up approx 10"X13" rather than the 6" X 7" ;)
Rigth -off to check my threads and then get on with mums lady
Hope everyone is having a great week :D
