It suposed to be that the eye of the peacock feather is an "evil" eye -so bad luck indoors -although that pattern above doesn't seem to have the defined "eye" shape... but Im not risking it after the last couple of years we have had -(losing sister last year and mums mastectomy this) im not tempting fate :rotfl:-I believe gypsy caravans in the house are bad luck too -mum found out after she did a beautiful john clayton round gypsy pic -6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Ladies I need some help some inspiration, finding the tablecloth hard- going, and only on the pink flowers (20 to do about 6 left) seems to have hardly filled a spot of the silly thing. Is it really really bad if I cheat and have more than one thing on the go at once? Thinking posting a picture of my feeble work so far my embarrass me into getting more of a move on so off to try and figure that one out. hope everyone else stitching without the frustration !!0

Morning all, well I finally finished all the cross stitch on my WTP UFO. Was not finished by the weekend as I wanted
but I got it done last night and started on the rest of the backstitch. I did it as I went along otherwise I know it would never get done. I have several UFO's in my box where all they require is backstitch! I will post a pic once its finished
I am dying to start my next 1. Its my son's birth sampler (he's 2!) and i've had it in my box since he was born. It's the boy version of the 1 I did for my eldest daughter, and I also got the chart for my yongest daughter to have the same in my box so they r the next 2 projects! I will post pics of them tooTotal Debt at LBM - £19107.03Total now - £11091.220 -

I have a birth sampler that I intended to do when a close cousin had her first baby. It isn't even started, he's now nearly 14 and she has since had another 4 kids
I had thought of doing it sometime and instead of putting on just the eldests name, DOB, weight and length etc I was going to just sew in all 5 names....maybe DOB's if there is room.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

I know I had the house fire but I was looking for something in my shed and came across an U.F.O.
It is taken from cross stitcher magazine issues 39-44(1996). I was planning to put them alltoghether in one large pattern. As you can see from the pictures I have got to letter H. I also found a bag with all the threads sorted to do all the rest of the letters and rough drawing on how to lay it all out. The corners I thought of putting in some personal details - name who completed, etc.
I notice there is abit of a stain on it and some rust marks at top. I think I will continue on with it and wash it at the end or do you think I should do it before hand. Think the marks at the top are rust marks.
So looks like I have a massive project to do. Well better get cracking (but will finish a small one free with magazine first).

Took your advices MrsMac & Ruth, washed it very carefully, let it dry naturally - stain came out great but the rust marks remain and found others further down the fabric. So looks like I will have to bin and buy some more aida (got the threads already) and start again. Will have a look on Ebay for a resonalbly priced largish piece - 26"x30".
Hope all is getting on well with their stiching.
Kind wishes

NO!!!! Don't bin it! I'm sure there's way's of getting the rust out. Why not contact one of the stitching magazines and ask if they know what to do? But please don't bin it. I'm sure there's something you can do. Can you post a pic of what it looks like now, please? Perhaps we can come up with some ideas on how to hide it?Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Hi there sweetcarer
i wouldn't bin it either -I doubt anything will get the rust out -BUT that near the edges can be hidden behind the mount and you could always add an extra leaf etc to cover -....there is bound to be a way round it...post a pic of where the rust marks are and I bet we can sort it out
Oceemer -I sometimes have a couple on the go and flit between the 2 -I have one that I need to get done but not only is it big but its just shades of grey -so I will flit between that and one with lots of pretty colours so i don't get bored and cross eyed-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

I'm working on 2 UFO's also. My Crisp Afternoon, which is huge, compicated and mostly red/orange/brown colours and a small Newtons Law christmas design, which is pretty easy to stitch and gives me a nice break from the trees!
If you think it'll help you, work on 2 or 3. Just make sure that you don't end up making the tablecloth a UFO again! Promise yourself you'll do a day a week on that, but you can have 2 days stitching something else.
Posting pictures does help me though. It's the only way I can actually see any progress I make!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

If you hate the backstitch so much, do it as you finish each section. Personally I quite like it as it make the design come to life, but I have my own pet hate-French knots!
Dig out those UFO's that just need backstitch and get them finished! You'll be so proud of yourself once it's done.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
