ooohhhh I see someone not having much time for trivial things like shopping, cleaning and cooking :rotfl:-well they are over rated aren't they ;) -and "technically" all that time sewing is the equivalent of lots of time you won't have to spend xmas shopping..... can you see who has a whole list of good reasons lined up as to why I should sit on my bum sewing :p

Wow! That's some list. I just want to stitch the remaining season for my Grandma's Lizzie Kate collection-Autumn. And a christmas card for Mum, as I've been doing this for years and if I stop now, she'll moan! ;) (only joking...but it has become a tradition. Along with frantically trying to finish stitching it late christmas eve...:rotfl:)

I'm pretty sure it was this one... (top left-fabric marker)
    http://www.hobbies-plus.co.uk/acatalog/Hemline_Fabric_Markers.html
Mine was from Hobbycraft, though. And I tested it on some scrap fabric first, but it came off the Dolly Mamas piece really easily in cold water.

Thanks so much. I tried to google for it myself but had a brain fart and for the life of me couldn't think of the words 'fabric marker' :o

I just thought of something regarding the use of the fabricmarker.
Ruth, do know if there is a time limit on how long is safe to leave the pen marks on the fabric before they become permanent?
I'd hate to mark the material and not finish the project for a few months.....or years if my track record is anything to go by....then wash it and the marks won't come off.
Could it adversely affect the material or stitches if I rinsed the marks off every so often or should you not wash your projects too often?

    Thanks

I have had a rethink and decided that the best way to solve this is not mark too many stitch places in a sitting.
I also went back and had a look at the link Ruth gave and there are some pens on there that the ink disappears after 48 hours! Amazing!
Might get one of each and see how I go.

    Evening all

Ok -who was it that had a link to an ebay shop that sold the DMC threads:confused: -I can't remember -but "whoever you are could you PM me the linky please? :D
I don't have a current e-bay account since I moved out here -but I might have to set one up if its going to save me a bit -failing that I will have to try and find someone I know who has one and can order for me :p. After tracking down my golden earth pattern -which I "put somewhere safe"-after turning the house upside down I found it in my DMC x-stitch bag mum got me :wall: -that will teach me to look in the obvious places in future :o. I have had a look at her as me thinks that it might be the next one I start once I have finished mums lady and then my Celtic lady...
    goldenearthwu7.th.jpg
she is going to be about 17" x 16" and has 80 colours -I have about 27 of them in my file -so I need to get the other 50 ... I don't mind having to pay for them as she is lovely :p- but the best I can see is 47p each -I can see some a bit cheaper -but sew-along deliver to BFPO addresses ;)

I have done quite a bit on mums lady today :T-right back to get some more done whilst watching casualty -then the x-men and any other drivel that comes on :rotfl:
Hope everyone is getting on with their projects ;)

That's a good idea! I didn't notice them. When I used my pen, it was on a project which I finished fairly quickly. Yes, that happens sometimes! :rotfl: .So I think the pen marks were only on the fabric for a couple of weeks. I would test it on some scrap fabric and leave it until Christmas to see if it still washes out ok, but I'm not sure where I put the pen...

Ooooh, just remembered that I used the pen on my Bras kit-which I started in April-so I hope it washes out!!!

What about something like this to store threads. I have smaller ones and they hold a skien quite well. They are from any hardware store. I got mine in B&Q. You can stick labels on front (or dymo) what is in each drawer. I am nearly finished my wedding sampler from the mag I was trying to trace on here (Cross Sticher 72). Only been able to do it when hubby not about to surprise him. I will post picture when finished. Then to decide on what next.

    Kind wishes to all
