Well, I'm new to this site, and have finally decided to give this whole thing a try. Sent my DPA letter on Wednesday, so I'm only at the early stages! Have just read all of this post, and had to say it was very enlightening! Thanks everyone for great advice, makes me think that I'm doing the right thing.

PS im taking on Lloyds TSB, so wish me luck! :j

goodluck moose.. let me know how it turns out as im also taking on lloyds
  • If you request statements by phone, it's not a SAR under DPA. You need to write and you need to enclose £10 payment. (the 40 days does not start until they receive payment) Clearly mark your letter as a SAR, if you're going to drop it at your branch.

I didn't mark mine as SAR but know they had it because they've change some details I asked them to. Have I gone wrong in not marking it?

Thanks for all your help to everyone here BW

It looks like the poor old banks are going to have to find another way of making money :P

I sent my letter before action on the 19th to the Abbey for £610. From what I've read, the Abbey will keep saying 'on your bike' all the way, so I'm ready with my £30 after the 14 days to go to court. I guess I might get another 'bog off' letter before the 14 days are up.

I've opened a parachute account with the natwest if it gets nasty with the Abbey, although my biggest fear is them closing the account as I've got a £1200 o/ and the charges, if (no, WHEN!) I'm successful will only wipe half of my o/d.

You should be ok, as long as you included payment.

I just spent my Saturday evening browsing my bank statements back to 1995 ( yes I know I should get a life!!!)

I did't think we'd had any bank charges in the last six years, but it turns out it's around £500.

Guess what I'll be doing tomorrow.....findng out what the heck to do next !!!!
