Morning Pammy, I am going to send you a PM. In the meantime, take a walk in the fresh air, regardless of the weather - kids will be fine. You are n a difficult place now, but they are all phases which you are going through. Each ends and turns into another, overnight, when you aren't looking.
Take strength from the fact that you are investing in your kids futures by the journey you are on now and perhaps this time is helping you in other ways. Give me while and I will PM you some things which may help.
Good luck Pammy. Tilly x2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:

You've done tremendous things to help yourself and your kids' future - and it's absolutely OK to moan here to us.
Hope you feel a little more positive about things when the kids come home x- Mortgage @ March 2008: £194,965 ; Lightbulb Moment: July 2011: £164,926; End Date: March 2033

Pammy it's a really 'meh' time of the year and you are bound to focus on the negatives. If it's any consolation a lot of people on this board are feeling the same at the mo. However, you are doing a fantastic job of raising a family while paying off a mortgage all on your own and we think you're fab :T.
Maybe you need to take the initiative with the school mums when you know you will be free?
If it's any consolation one of my resolutions is to meet some MSE'ers this year and you're top of the list :D:rotfl:. I'll be in touch in the New Year .

pammy, it's good to have a vent sometimes, hope you feel more positive about things today.
I agree with gally that it's 'that time of year' when people can start feeling a bit low, but you should look back on what you've achieved this year & pat yourself on the back as you've done brilliantly ~ not just with the mortgage overpayments, but also with holidays & days out with the kids.
Definitely take the initiative with the school Mums, & the people that didn't contact you on Christmas Day, might they have been expecting you to contact them?? Sometimes it's just lack of communication rather than lack of thought.
Best wishes for 2012. xx'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Have hugs from me Pammy. I hope you're feeling a bit better this morning, but can totally understand your feelings. Xmas is a funny time which makes us all think about what is important and what we are missing etc.
Breaking into the clique at schooling hard but perhaps you could organise a night out when you know you're free and go from there?0 -
Pammy its not surprising you are feeling down, its that awful after xmas down time, plus you don't have your kids with you.
I hope they will be back soon to put a smile on your face, and maybe you should spend a bit of time reading back some of your own diary? You have been the one who has been there day in day out through the good times and the bad, a house full of people does not compare to a loving mum who works hard and always puts their needs first.
Maybe you should plan a treat for you all when they get back, a meal out or cinema , something to look forward to.
You sound a bit like you are stuck in limbo trying to decide what to do about moving closer to family, at the moment you are doing everything you possibly can oping so its all working towards it if you do decide to move.
school gates can be very cliquey, how about asking a friend for the kids over as it can break the ice with the mums when they come and collect, I have made a few good friends like that , which i probably would not have spoken to otherwise, then possibly a playdate in half term at the park or cinema with mum as well? sorry if i am teaching you how to suck eggs here.:D
Anyway, hope you are feeling better today feel free to have a little moan on here whenever xMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0 -
Hey Pammy
sorry youre feeling low, like others have said the time of year doesnt help I think it magnifies things and the idea that everyone is out somewhere without us having the "perfect" time can play on our minds.
Some good suggestions about getting out and taking a walk to blow away the cobwebs, but also too maybe reaching out like others have said and trying to organise a night out or having the kids friends over to play and the mums for a coffee?
Hope you feel better0 -
Sorry you're feeling low Pammy, I think Christmas can do that to us. Must be hard when the kids at at their dads and I hope that when they come home you feel a bit better. Lots of sound advice has been given but here's a hug from me xJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0

Hi pammy, I'm a newbie here and following your thread - didnt want to read and run. First let me just say how wonderfully you did with your overpayments in 2011, yours is one of the threads that inspired me to get started! Chin up and heres to a prosperous 2012 - is there any way you could take up a local sport / language class / choir / bookclub / start a stitch'n'!!!!! or something similar to get out and meet some new people? I hope things seem easier once the Christmas season is over and done with.

Hello,
Firstly, congratulations on how brilliantly you are doing with you mf plans. You are setting a great example for the children.
Secondly, being surrounded by people at Christmas is not all it is cracked up to be. Not going into details but there were some very tense moments and not a few tears over the holiday period from me. We all get sucked into the tv Christmas images but it is never like that for anybody in reality. Be happy enjoying your little family.
All the very best,
Squirrel:jPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0
