Morning!! I do have a gym membership, but find that I do get my money's worth - and I probably wouldnt do any exercise if I didnt have it!! Most of the time I have to force myself to go, but I do enjoy it when I get there.
I NEED to lose weight for Australia - but at the moment it's not happening!!
I am really proud of myself actually (and this is sad), but I have only just "learnt" how to run on the treadmill. Used to only be able to walk (and had to hold on!!), but I started with jogging for 1 min, and gradually building it up - I managed around 10 minutes yesterday, so yaaaay!! I actually really enjoy it (but have to concentrate so I dont fall off!!). I am fine on other pieces of equipment, just not the treadmill :0)
I also find that when I exercise I dont want to eat bad food or drink. Time is running out though so I seriously need to move my bum!!
I have to say though that being in debt & dieting at the same time is no fun - you have to have something to look forward to! :0(

Yeah of course I mean 7 stone lol, I'm about 6' though. Every time I exercise all I do grow muscles I never hadPigeongirl wrote:Please tell me you don't mean 7 stone?! Unless you are about 4ft 10'' then surely that is far too small!!!!!
Maybe I have misunderstood and I apologise if I have but you have worried me now Amosworks!
It's not funny at all, it really depresses me
Yeah I think combining the 2 is a great idea, LookingAhead really had a great idea! Good luck on boosting your metabolism again, I wonder if there are any small changes in your lifestyle you could make that would give it a gentle nudge? (Apart from giving up chocolate that isPigeongirl wrote:I'd like to get to 11 stone but since having my (absolutely scrummy gorgeous) little boy I don't seem to have the same metabolism as before! I do lots of walking but my big vice is chocolate.
I'm with you on the motivation club though matey, think it would be lovely to support each other cos there seems to be a lot of us that need to lose weight and save money!
:D:D)
You see, this forum is just full of people who understand you! It's like we're all going to turn in to each others personal life coaches and stuffAnnando wrote:I have more stones to loose that I dare admit to anyone...:( and know how you feel, because I feel the same!
Don't get me wrong, I think that's great!!
That's great news too! If you stuck to Atkins for a wee bit, you'd easily lose 1.5stone the first and second month each, then about a stone/month thereafter (decreases slightly every month until about 6-9 months where it's usually between 1/2 to 3/4 stone/month). It would also give you enough energy to give those dogs a run for their money (excuse the puns) :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:Annando wrote:In the evening got a phone call from my brother (who lives abroad), he lost 2 1/2 stones in 6 months, all through walking walking walking and a better diet (I think mainly giving up booze)!
ABsolutely! There's a health sub-forum in the family and relationships forum. Other places on the MSE forum exist where it could be started, but the thing is IMHO that the other boards aren't as nice, friendly and understanding as this one. Even recently I've seen DFW's venture out and for no reason at all, get a slating about their signature and being told it's their stupid fault they got in debt and they don't care how much they owe and stuff. Considering this is about money saving, I was surprised at seeing stuff like that. A lot of them are really up themselves too unfortunatelyAnnando wrote:I do think that for mutual support we should start a DFW / Fat Fighters thread!
I feel safe in DFW, the people are so much better :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

I moved all the mirrors in my house up so I could only see my shoulders and head then got depressed when I realised it was possible to have fat eyelids
Hmm, I winder with the MSE Frappr! map ( http://www.frappr.com/moneysavingexpert ) we could plan a circuit so that we could do a relay race and pass a baton from one MSE'er to another over the course of a week *Ponders*K9cuddles wrote:I tend to drag my mates in with everything.. the dancing, aerobics and jogging!! No you will be slim! You've got to believe it and it will happen k9cuddles. I'm honoured you told us, I suppose there aren't too many secrets on this board and I think that's one of the best things about it.K9cuddles wrote:TBH.. I have serious amounts to lose too Amos!!! Serious.. I'm never gonna be slim I've got size 9 feet and hooge hands for a girlie!
You know I think it's really sensible to plan something so long term like that you don't even need targets and goals, just work at it as you do it. I suppose if you kind of forget about it rather than obsess about it, in several months you'd be like "Oh I forgot I was on a diet" lol and realise you've halved in size heh :T :TK9cuddles wrote:Some times I really wonder what my OH sees in me as some days I really can't see it!!! I got so depressed a few months back I used to just cry when ever I was with him, then I realised it's just me being fat and lazy I need to actually get off my !!!!!! and do stuff!!! And in the end you feel so much better for it! I've set no targets, no dates, no figures unlike my finances. As I know I'll stickto a lifestyle change this way.
Hey that's true. I once had to get some shoes from Evans and I felt judged a hell of a lot (but I am a bloke and that might have had something to do with it but it's a long story). New Look isn't that great IMHO, it's so over-priced. I've got a friend who works there and she agrees. If you go to charity shops you could get 2 pairs of jeans for a fiver, and if you find a good bargain they will be perfect quality and designer brands too!K9cuddles wrote:But so many people have commented that's Iv'e changed already these are the things that keep me going.. sad as it is I look forward to buying a pair of Jeans in "New Look" for a fiver instead of Evans for "£35" now that's much more MSE!!!!!
Oh my life you guys, you're such an inspiration. :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T0 -

I'm genuinely worried here - that target weight is just daft - you'll be skin and bone! At your height you don't want to be less than 12 stone according to the medical charts. While I know those charts don't account for body frame, 7 stone is far too low. Bet you're gorgeous just as you are - you're obviously very hard on yourself.

I'm 5ft 11, and there is NO way I'll ever be 7 stone!! (I was at school, and people used to call me anorexic!!), I would love to be able to get down to 10 stone, but at the moment I cant even lose a couple of pounds so there's no chance :0(0

Now I am actually :rotfl: amosworks your last post was hilarious!!!
Have you really tried Atkins and does it work that well? But men tend to shift weight more easily than women...
Havent been able to contact post office for package redelivery so will have to go to town to retrieve it... guess what I'LL WALK THERE!!!
I've also decided to give up my daily dose of chocolate and I'll do it cold turkey, although I'll have a look at the detox thing, Boots is right next to post office!
Will be unable to go to Aldi (main chocolate provider!) until can control myself. Yesterday was really sad, went to buy bread just to have an excuse and go into Aldi to buy chocolate, real chocolate junkie!
BTW yes I do think that this forum is nicer than others, but maybe we should make this a sticky or smthg for easy access? I don't know how this works.0 -
Aww thanks but it's just what I want to be, really, really skinny. I don't want to do any of that fingers down the throat rubbish as it just makes me feel sick, but I do want to lose this weight as I'm the single fatty in my social group. I don't understand how everyone else manages to get so thinPigeongirl wrote:I'm genuinely worried here - that target weight is just daft - you'll be skin and bone! It actually has a real detriment to my self confidence when I'm with them, I'm so the odd one out
Aww ms_london, maybe you hit a weight loss plateau? Maybe if you were extremely strict on what you ate for a few days and did a lot more exercise than normal just for that small time, it would be enough to get things moving again?? Afterwards of course you could return to your usual diet plan and hopefully things would continue in motion? Good luck with it, I'm really keen to hear how it all turns out.ms_london wrote:I'm 5ft 11, and there is NO way I'll ever be 7 stone!! Yeah I'm kind of on Atkins now but I've been on it for about 3 years now in total. The transformation from the start has been great, I lost 2 stone in my first month on it alone, then 1.5 stone on the next couple of months each then it averaged at a stone/month for the next few months after, but that was ages ago when I was like 21 stone (yes I was 21 stone
) At the end of the first year on it I'd lost 10 stone (without any additional exercise). Then I started going up because I started growing lots of muscle all over my body and I was gaining weight because of course muscle is heavier than fat. So then I started abusing the diet and deliberately starving my body whenever I wasn't in ketosis and binge eating whenever it started to stop it, so basically it ran out of food all the time and started eating the muscle tissue again so the weight went down but it's got the stage where I have 5 stone to go (I want to be 1/3 of my original size) but for love nor money it won't come off and the muscle tissue is starting to grow again
I really have a hard time being the fatty in my social group
They're really stick like it defies explanation. My best friend is a size 6/8! I just want to see some of my ribs! Where are they all? lol
I think if you are sensible with the diet like I was for the first year, you will lose loads of weight safely without even trying and it shouldn't make a difference whether you're male or female. Unfortunately Atkins is the diet it's popular to hate despite studies now showing that it is safe and also the diet in which you lose the weight the quickest in the first year.
I don't believe I'm going to do this, but below are pics of my torso after 1 year on the Atkins (started at 21 stone) and no I'm not showing you a before pic

Nooo stop judging me
I get enough of that already
I really think that everyone interested in starting a DFW Fat Fighters support group should make a noise now because I don't want to be the only one interested
