Has anyone here managed to cancel a gym membership half way through a 12 month contract? the £45 a month seemed okay at the time but now I want it for my debt reduction purposes :(

    Thanks

  • Following on from the exercise dvd's theme. Last year in preparation for my friends wedding 4 of us bought different dvd's, davina, nell etc and once or twice a week would meet up and have our own mini exercise class. We all kept encouraging each other and it was good fun, though im sure they only asked me cos i have absolutely no co-ordination and they needed a giggle

This is the place for me!

I put on a stone in just under a year because I changed jobs and had to get a bus/train rather than walk to work. Losing half an hour's walk a day piled on the pounds! I've recently changed jobs and am walking again - so far I've lost 3lbs. No change in diet particularly, just good old moving that butt!

I can also highly recommend dancing! There's bound to be something in your area that's relatively cheap and if you need any specialist shoes, check out Loot or ebay. I've done various types over the years - ballet, tap, flamenco, belly (shake it sister!), jazz and it works your mind as well as your body. It's also a great depression buster as you have no choice but to focus on what you're doing to prevent embarassing collisions and stop focussing on anything else. It makes you really happy when you finally master that shuffle-hop-step! Another plus point is it helps your posture - standing straight makes you look slimmer - how good does that sound? :rotfl:

 A word of warning though (and the reason why I won't cancel my gym membership). If you're going out jogging stay safe - stick to well-lit routes or safe areas. Better still, rope in a friend and do it together. Until you get faster, you might not be able to run away from trouble!
 What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?
