    Hiya,

When we were desperately saving for our wedding, and I was desperately trying to lose weight, I did an exercise dvd, a Rosemary Conley one. It was great, not too exhausting but def enough to do the trick. It was only a tenner, but my cousin bought it for me for christmas, so free way of losing weight, no gym fees! Had to get over embarrassment of doing it in front of OH, but well worth it. I've just lent it to my sis who's trying to lose her baby weight and skint because of the cost involved with having a baby. In fact, I've just got a new one, Joanna Hall, to do now that I've put weight back on due to no wedding dress pressure! My mum bought it for me and it was only £11.49, so again, cheap way to lose weight, and only half an hour twice or 3 times a week, so no over doing it and no guilt in not going to the gym cos you're skint!

    definitely worth a try :D

  • I used to take my children to school in the car every day (3 miles) as I thought I was "cruel" to make them walk. I have told them now that we HAVE to walk and they seem to enjoy it. (although tbh I try to use public transport at least one way as it makes for a very long day for them if we dont) They would be out of the house at 8.15am and not getting back in til 4.15pm if we walked both ways...and the little one is only four.....Saying that ...I ALWAYS walk back from school and to school to get them. But then again , I am on a diet so need to.... :rotfl:

How about a part time job that requires exercise? Maybe shelf stacking or anything involving moving stuff around, carrying or lots of walking?

Or you could just go on a diet that doesn't need exercise lol.

yeah they're all set to music, Rosemary's a little behind the times, bless her, but generally it's really good, and she has two people doing it as well, giving you the easier or slightly harder versions! and you get all their stories at the beginning, so it motivates you a bit as well! it's quite funny but def good way to exercise cheaply!

I know what you mean. I have tried jogging on treadmills......and have had limited success. But as soon as I attempt to jog on the actual street, my knees turn to rubber and my lung capacity becomes that of a deflated party balloon.

    James240...what am I doing wrong!?

you need to plough on through this i suffered this when i first started jogging on the streets, the reason is cos your having to move your legs and body, in a gym the floor is moving for u, on the streets your having to move urself.

If you stop out in the street u stop, if you stopped on the treadmill you would go flying backwards :rotfl: If you keep on going for it and go a little further everytime then you will soon make big strides into losing weight and be able to run further, its how im running nearly 2-3 miles every day hope this helps you
Savings Total so far for 2023: £8,062.58

Being at the least 3 stone o/w and 11k in debt......I'll join in.....

Back in January I bought ( I know..I know) some MBT trainers (Masai Barefoot Trainers...............trust me this was a very big step...never spent more than £25/30 on a pair of trainers).....with the intention that they would a) help my bad back/posture problems hence saving me money on Osteo....and b) get me back into the habit of walking.....which I used to do all the time....

Yeah ok try walking in the bloody things with out breaking your neck...or your ankle or putting your back out!!

I know I need more practice............but seriously lacking in the motivation stakes here!!! Get home from work and zonk out for a few hours....then can't sleep.....and so it continues!! AAARRGGHH!
