Perfect excuse? I think not, lady!
Get yourself a stationary bike and then "cycle" to and from work for half an hour each way.
See? There's a solution for every dilemma!

Hah,.......trust our Minnie to come up with a solution! There's no escape eh?
Well...tough day today.....I intend to spend half of it shopping for new clothes (surely 4 hours of walking around Lakeside qualifies as exercise?) and the other half packing:j :j
Flight at 9am......it's 30+ degrees out there apparently.
Sorry....am I annoying yet?

Oh and just so you don't all think it'll just be about lazing on the beach (although there'll be plenty of that) and drinking cocktails at the Rainbow Bar (hmmm...although there'll be plenty of that too), I've set myself a challenge.
Yes, my FFW chums, I intend to come back 2 lbs lighter!!!
Maybe not as impossible as it sounds......drink lots (water!), salads, grilled fish, veg etc......in that heat I won't fancy chocolate. Admittedly there won't be too much walking going on, but a few boogies in a nightclub could help offset the cocktails.
We'll see - am *COUGH* st 6lb today so will report honestly on my return.

Hello,
I'm fairly new to MSE and I've just been skimming through this thread. I know it has been running for quite some time but it seems like the perfect place for me as I'm trying to get debt free and trying to reduce my weight, may I join too.
I took the drastic action of selling my flat to clear my debts and I'm living with my Mum temporarily, I still have some debt to clear. I'm moving to Yorkshire as soon as I get a new job, and I want to be feeling confident when I do. I'm overweight by about 2 Stone. I'm 5 foot 2 inches and weigh 10 Stone 9lbs.
My first milestone is my brother's wedding on 4th November, I want to lose a stone by then, I think this is realistic as that is 2lb a week, so fairly sustainable. I need plenty of help. I've started cycling to work, which saves me £10 a week and hopefully will help with the weight loss. If I lose the weight by then I'll also have saved £70 for a new outfit (as long as I cycle every day), although I won't spend all of that on an outfit!
I'll try and work my way through the earlier messages for tips."Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it." (Montgomery, L.M.(1908). Anne of Green Gables.)

Yesterday I went to the newsagents to pay my newspaper bill. Now I know I hadn't paid it for a while but when the guy told me how much it was I nearly fainted. £106 needless to say I cancelled the newspaper delivery and guess what I was doing at 6.45am today?
You got it!
Walking to the shop to get my daily fix of gossip and walking back again.
I reckon that should come under the Debt Free/Fat Free challenge.
I wonder if I will manage it on days when it is hissing it down?0 -

Kath
Thanks Kath :cheesy:
I'm off to a good start, I've just weighed myself and I've lost 3lbs this week! Must be all that cycling. And I went out for a couple of drinks last night, I only had a couple and ate cereal instead of the pizza I was craving. Knowing I'd have to mention it here made me think twice."Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it." (Montgomery, L.M.(1908). Anne of Green Gables.)

Can I join please?
I have struggled with my weight since I was five. I have a strong family history of diabetes and I am terrified I develop it myself. I already have high blood pressure and arthritis.
I know what I should eat....I could probably write the book:o
A wonderful friend who won some money is taking me on holiday at the end of the month. How great is that? But I am so terrified that I won't fit in the plane seat and it will be too hot for me to enjoy it as I am so overweight.
The bad news is I have about 6 stone to lose:eek: I could always get a cheese wire and lop off the flabby bits. Could then build another person and send her off to work while I sit at home:D
Realistically I think I could lose a stone before I go which means I won't have to ask for a seatbelt extender:o
Years ago I used to buy Slimming magazine and I remember a diet that told you exactly what to buy for a weeks diet down to the last grape. I need this sort of rigid framework to start me off again on the road to healthy eating. I know I need to alter my whole way of life but at the moment I don't feel strong. And I know I have to start planning my meals properly but I need an emergency boost!
Anybody know if there is a previous post with a link to a week's diet plan and shopping list?0 -
Welcome Janey,
I can't offer much help other than to wish you good luck!
Now, fellow cuddlies, I'm such a silly boy so I wondered if any of you could offer some advice......
I'm doing great at the gym now - although I'm not loosing weight I am loosing size and gaining tone which is great, I look forward to going to the gym in fact. However, I am spending money like a demon. How *do* you all manage so much self control? Its a certainty that I will be out of work by the end of October, but I still cannot stop buying things I don't need. I've got more gym clothes than a branch of JJB now, my Autumn wardrobe is already worthy of my own Top Shop, I've got so many DVD's to watch etc etc.
If I could stop spending and start reducing rather than increasing my debt I'm quite sure I'd have a much brighter and happier future but life seems so miserable without buying things.
I thought about doing a spending diary, but its too late after I've spent the money.
On the bright side, I didn't go to a poker night I was invited to tonight so thats bound to have saved me some money!
Hugs to all the cuddlies

debt free is a start.
fat free is a bonus
debt free and fat free is a dream!!
I am overweight .... alot overweight!! And I am shifting it, want to go to the jym but I cannot affoard it at this moment in time. So for the moment I am walking to and back from work, drinking only water etc and got myself a pedometer, 10,000 steps a day!! working really well.
The biggest problem for me though, is the inbetween snacking, I live with my dad and he is very old fashioned, loves his cakes and buiscuits! nightmare for me when I just go out for a drink and just see these packets of jammy dodgers hanging out the cuboards!
Ive also been naughty passed couple of weeks though, out at weekends, £30 quid on drink, £12 on random chinese orders... isnt good!!
But ive knocked that on the head now, back to the health kick.0
