Hey Kath - any news on the Don't Diet book? I've ordered it from the library but I'm still waiting for it.
Meanwhile, the iron pumping continues. Today, I will mostly be walking like John Wayne on account of the squats and lunges done while waving 10kg of weights over my head.
Ouch. What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -

I'm really enjoying it Minnie!! Whilst I was away I took a break from the specific tasks but I did try to keep up the spirit of challenging my habits and doing stuff I wouldn't normally do. I went paragliding !!!!!! :rotfl: not sure if that counts but it was certainly out of my comfort zone, and great fun!!!
I've lost 3kg since I started reading the book (I started doing some of the stuff out of choice before i even got to the actual tasks - it was so inspiring) but that did coincide with other things like living with parents again that could have an impact on my weight. Anyway, I feel happier and am enjoying doing the tasks so far, stuff like no tv for a day, read a different newspaper, go for a 15min walk alone just to think.
Everything's been easy except giving up the internet for a day (I did that at the same time as the tv cos I don't watch much, my habit is to be on here), that was hard  It's a bit of a dilemma cos I know that being on the internet so much is not really good for me - its a bad habit, is very sedentary and no doubt bad for my posture and i could do so much useful stuff with my time instead of all the stuff I do on the net. Not to say that its useless, i get lots from it and i enjoy being on here a lot, keeps me sane, but I can't seem to switch off. I can't seem to summon up the motivation to think 'ok, I'll log off now and go and do that tidying etc i've been needing to do' :rotfl: So... I think i need some more self-imposed 'no internet' days to try and crack the habit. Its all about breaking habits so that you begin to consciously choose things, thereby thinking about them more and making better decisionsWell, that's how I've interpreted part of it anyway!
Which is all an extremely roundabout way of saying.... its a fab book, tell the library lady to hurry up and speed it to you poste haste!!! I left it lying around and my family were all curious.... once they started reading they couldn't put it down and they're all doing it now (they don't all need to lose weight but its just an inspiring book generally). My 19 year old bro is the messiest person ever, we haven't seen the carpet in his room for years etc etc...... and...... no kidding, after reading the book he tidied it all up, took him hours. He said he'd got into the habit of living in a mess out of apathy but he'd realised it did bother him and he'd taken the decision to do it (rather than mum nag him) I nearly fell over :rotfl:
All of which makes me realise I might want to read it over again... rekindle some of that motivation
I hope you get it soon, let me know what you think of it!!Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs. Except for death and paying taxes, everything in life is only for now... Avenue QOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 003Proud to have become debt free... and striving to keep it that way

There's obviously a queue of DFW-FFWs in my area!
Sounds like a big of a life changer! What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -
Kathsfich- paragliding sounds well good! Would love to try that! Everybody else- well done, keep up the good work!
I weighed myself the other day and had lost 3lbs over the last few weeks!! :j0 -
Well done Stepho 3lb is a great acheivement. Kathsfich that book sounds like its worth a read. I'll scroll back through the messages to see if I can find details about it. Although probably cheaper to buy it than get it from the library as last time my fines on late returns were horrendous!!!!
Stuck to meal plan now for 8 days and still haven't bought any takeaways or lunches out. I am going for a meal with friends on Thursday so will have to eat out then, but I will stick to the no take away rule.
Just joined a swimming website which looks really good. Its £10 a year but you get a free swim hat and goggles so that is prob £10 back already. I can print off training programmes and track my progress in a swimming log - so I'm hoping that will motivate me to get back to the gym (at least for a little while)
Anyway enough of my rambling, hope your all having a fun day S x;)0 -
Thanks Misscal- The swimming site sounds good, that's the only thing about my gym, they don't have a pool which is a shame.0

Its called The No Diet Diet and its by Ben Fletcher, Karen Pine and Danny Penman, the ISBN is 0752874004 everything your librarian needs right there!!
Its the kind of book you might want to have for quite a while... months or years on and off... if you really get into it. And there are bits you're supposed to write in (not essays though!!) but you could just use a spare bit of paper rather than upset your librarianPerhaps worth borrowing first to see if you like it and then buy it in future if you can afford it... if you feel you need it.
Paragliding was amazing.... can't resist the opportunity to show you a picLook cuddlies, this was me: I'm the one in the white helmet
