It's ok Minnie, you're welcome, that's what we're all here for isn't it!! Any excuse to use my cheerleaders pic too:rotfl:
I feel really good for having stuck to my challenge, I've proved that I can do it, stupid as that soundsI'm in the habit of eating certain things and I'm trying to break them gradually.
Which is what the book's about really. Its based on psychological research and the discovery that people who are overweight tend to have more habits and routines than those who are slim. That's a bit of a simplification obviously, it talks about being flexible in lots of different ways (emotionally, practically etc) in all areas of life. Its based on the 'Do Something Different' technique, the idea is to gradually challenge yourself to change/break the various habits that you have (to do with things other than food), just one thing a day for a month. Things like, instead of a usual tv programme, write a letter to an old friend. Turn your phone off for a day. Listen to a different radio station for a day. I've not read all the way to 'the plan' - apparently lots more practical suggestions are to come and its arranged in various different sections (different types of habits etc). Apparently this will gradually help you to become more flexible in everyday life, to feel more positive and to gradually lose weight. Seems improbable but the way they explain it makes senseSo far its been really interesting and really chimes with my feelings about the psychological aspect behind my being overweight, rather than focussing on just the calories etc  .
Oh heck, am making a bit of a dog's dinner of this explanation.... perhaps amazon can do better:rotfl:

That all sounds very good advice. I have to admit I'm a bit of a control freak who could do with "going with the flow" a bit.
Another way of losing weight is supposed to be having a good old de-clutter and tidy up. Looking round my pigsty of a flat at the moment, I suspect this too may have a grain of truth!
Still - I've put myself in the position of having to have a clear out as I'm expecting people round next weekend. Better get a wiggle on! What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -

You sound just like me Minnie... I always like to be in control and feel reassured by having routines and set ways of doing things. The cool thing is, now that I've started reading this book, I'm constantly challenging myself to do something different, to break a habit or be relaxed about something that'd normally freak me out.And it does make me feel better actually, give me a sense of achievement :T

Oooh, well I need to do some of that too! I've got boxes and boxes (like, taking up much space in parents' loft and garage) of stuff that I brought home from uni that needs to be sorted through. Some of it has to go back into storage and some needs to be housed in my room (once the clutter that's there has been sorted and disposed of!) :rotfl:
I might add that to my goals for the week - to at least make a start on some tidying - I could lose twice the weight by putting on some music and dancing away while tidying

That book sounds really interesting.....I might just buy that.....and I LOVE the cheerleader pic!
Went out for dinner last night for friends birthday....a fab Italian place and I resisted all the heavenly pasta dishes with yummy sauces and had grilled sea bass with steamed veg and then rewarded my most marvellous restraint with about 15 vats of white wine  and a large piece of yummy chocolate cake.......
OOOPS
I will do penance tomorrow, I will do penance tomorrow......:o0 -
