Oh, just seen your update, I don't know what slipstreaming is, but I'll have a go tomorrow. Night xGetting there... A deal at a time. :T0

Good morning, I thought that I am sitting here typing on my laptop!!!
What I did was to download SP 2 and 3, I installed them, then reinstalled all the drivers. I looked at a few articles about slipstreaming, one had a compehensive step by step, so later in the week, I"m going to pick up some CDs and make a XP cd and drivers CD.
Thank you everyone who helped me, it was really appreciated. I actually enjoyed trying to figure it out, it was the stairs that were the annoying bit.
Right I'm off to install a firewall and other bits and pieces. xxGetting there... A deal at a time. :T0 -
OK I spoke too soon!
Looked at my device manager, and the ethernet controller and Sigma Tel C Major still have exclamation marks. What to do?Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0 -
Are you connecting to the Internet via the laptop now?0

Yes I'm back online. I suppose that's all that matters eh?Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0

It certainly does! Assuming you've already activated Windows XP, you may be able to get the remaining drivers from Windows Update. Go to Start→Help and Support, select "Keep your computer up-to-date with Windows Update" and - when it appears - click Custom. After a short interval, you should see a list of categories on the left, one of which will be Hardware, Optional followed by a number in brackets.
What you do next is - I hope - pretty obvious.

Thanks for that, I've run into another problem!
As I was updating a pop up appeared to say that there isn't much space left on the local disk.
I was confused because I haven't even got Windows Media Player on here!
So I looked at the properties, and my space seems to be split in half between C and E disk.
Can I merge them together?Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0 -
It's certainly a possibility, but in doing so you risk losing data. There might be something important in there too. Take a look. Can I merge them together?0 -
OK I've had a closer look, and I was wrong earlier. The C disk has a capacity to 34gb and has 30gb, the E disk has 3gb of space but only 1mb of space.
I keep getting a pop up saying it's critically low and it needs at least 200mb, and asks me to delete some programs, but I lost everything when I reinstalled xp and the only things I've put on there is firefox and an antivirus.
I don't think the programs used to live on the E drive.Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0
