Hmmm...mixed views there. I never want to go back in, to the point where I may never have another child, however the decision may be the same no matter what hospital it was.
I know it would be the same on other wards but I hated my boyfriend having to leave at 9 and being on the ward with so many other women. I also didn't find there was a lot of support in the nights. Especially the first night after the section. At one point it took me over an hour to get the baby back into the cot as I was in pain trying to stand up. Also, every time I stood up blood would pour down my legs. Not nice on a ward with other mothers and newborn babies.
Although some of the staff were lovely, I had the feeling no one ever really knew what was going on. My drug chart was missing at one point. I also had to tell them to stop giving the baby antibiotics or they'd have carried on and I don't think I'd ever have got home.
There's also a lot of building work going on at the moment and the delivery suite looked like a store cupboard with a bed in. It was a mess. We went there after the section and had skin to skin straight away and I gave him his 1st feed. There were builders outside the window (although I couldn't see them) swearing their heads off 1st thing in the morning. Genius. I'm adding this to my list!
Sugar - It's only because he can't work his mobile at the best of times and I'll just be asked who did you want me to send this to etc. so easier if I set it all up ready :rolleyes:You laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0 -
JVIC - Sorry you had such a bad time of it, it's one of the main reasons I won't go to UHW. Hopefully things will get better there once they've finished everything.
If you do decide to have more children you could always opt for Royal Glam or Llandoch next time. You laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0 -
There's a note on my scan from yesterday that says my placenta is anterior - which means front, I believe. That means I won't feel kicks as soon, right?top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

I really fancy making quiche. When I am no longer working, I plan to experiment more. I cook most things from scratch, but get scared by things like pastry! OH is looking forward to me being on ML as he thinks I will turn into a domestic goddess! More fool him.
I agree, I usually cook everything from scratch and cook whilst hubby is out kickboxing, I have told him not to get too use to this cos once bubs us here it will be stopping. I'm generally quite good a cooking more than I need and freezing a few portions for use later in the month and for an easy nights cooking - for example, we had chilli for tea yesterday, and there is a double portion in the freezer which will do us both again and a single portion too!
My plan is too stock up the freezer throughout July (OMG - thats next week ) so instead of using things I am constantly adding to my stores - space permitting - so that we have meals for the first few weeks after bubs arrival. Once these are gone, I am expecting meals to fall to hubby to sort - so sandwiches, burgers and beans on toast :rotfl:0 -
Aless - I've not heard of this before, but a quick google brought up this from babycentre:The front wall of the uterus is called the anterior wall, the back wall is the posterior wall. The placenta may also be described as being 'fundal', which is right at the top of your uterus: in other words, the top of your bump.
Whether your placenta is in an anterior or posterior position does not make any difference to your pregnancy - although sometimes when the placenta is on the anterior wall of the uterus (the front wall), it can muffle the sound of your baby's heartbeat when the midwife listens to it through an ear trumpet, also called a Pinard's stethoscope, or a Sonicaid.
Placental position during labour may become an issue, but only if the placenta is also lying low in the uterus, and covers all or part of your cervix. This is known as placenta praevia. Otherwise, placental position makes no difference to the birth of your baby.
I would guess if it can muffle the heartbeat it may be muffling kicks too. I wouldn't worry too much, as I understand they can move and I'm sure you'll soon be feeling all the hefty kicks/punches.0 -
NMS I am expecting to do the same in the month off before EDD then like you said, when you can't be bothered to cook you just pull something out of the freezer.
I'm lurking today, need to get a lot of work done but like to try and keep up with what's going on.Tegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)

I do the same with chilli and bolognese, but since we both love it so much, it rarely makes its way to the freezer - we just eat it 2 or 3 nights in a row! I have bought some of the plastic Chinese take away containers that Glam (I think) suggested for freezing stuff for when baby is born.
Hmm, talking of food I want my lunch now, but not meeting friend until 2. Going to have to eat plenty as getting a filling later so won't have dinner until very late!0 -
We just order chinese then wash out the tubs afterwards :rotfl:Tegan Lily arrived 4 November 2009 (3 days late)

I have a wedding to go to in July, and ordered white linen trousers from Funmum. Need to send them back. What is the point in making white trousers so see through, that you can see the pockets through them?? It seems so stupid to me! What a waste of a delivery charge! Still on the look out for a wedding outfit. My ankles have been so swollen recently that I went off the idea of a dress.
Happy Anniversary Tink - hope you enjoy your evening out.
I gpot some great white trousers from here http://www.yummymummymaternity.co.uk/white-linen-band-maternity-trousers-regular-or-long-leg-1630-p.asp and while they are not cheap, they are great and no knickers showing.
They also have fab customer service, and I found a discount code in the back of a preggy magazine which helped with the cost. They wash and iron beautifully and are really lovely. There's a note on my scan from yesterday that says my placenta is anterior - which means front, I believe. I think so. My placenta is at the back and I can;t feel a thing round there. But you WILL feel them, maybe round the sides. Eventually the baby gets too strong and big for you not to feel them. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
