    Morning ladies - late for me this morning. It was so cold here last night that I resorted to putting long socks on! My lovely husband has a bit of a fetish for them, so I didn't sleep till late...

    Still drinking my tea and catching up. No news of honeypop?

    Also, if anyone wants to friend me on Facebook feel free. I'm in the MSE group and my initials are LLG. My Bejewelled score is not as high as many but sometimes I get lucky.

    Busy day with at least some out and about in it. List-making will start shortly.

    Just making some slice sausage rolls for DH and I then tablets, shower, relax and Day care at 1.45pm.

    Got up this morning and got into a panic as I couldn't find the cat food, kids fed the dog as I can't reach into his cage anymore. Took me a good 10mins to work out that we don't actually have a cat, I just dreamt it. :mad:

    31 weeks today! :j

    Hi all,

    good luck with the scan today ML!

    Candice, thanks for posting your birth story, really sorry you had a bad experience must have been hard for you to share. It also goes to show that you should not let yourself be shrugged off by the medical staff when you feel there is something's wrong could have been in trouble had your OH not shouted. I can certainly see why you would only consider an elective in the future.

    Have so much to do today it's unreal yet after falling asleep at 9.30 last night I'm absolutely shattered. I keep feeling short of breath but all my tests came back ok on mon except BP is still on the low side.

    Had a cup of coffee to see if that perks me up a bit. The house has got into quite a shambles since the weekend. I just can't sit in a messy house even if I feel terrible as it just makes me feel worse. To help matters my friend has said she'll pop round either today, tomorrow or Friday!
  • Fidget - my BP was/is low (and plummets after taking blood, hence recent 'incidents') MW said Coke was good if you were having a wobbly moment (caffeine brings up the BP, plus some sugar). OK you don't want too much as it is evil stuff but it might help if you feel faint. 1-2 coffees a day was also OK she said.

    Morning everyone!
    So I had fun seeing the MW yesterday - didn’t much apart from BP and paperwork but I still enjoyed it!

    I am worrying (again) at the moment though as we have our honeymoon booked to Egypt in September when I will be approx. 18 weeks. Some people are telling me I can’t go in the sea or swimming pools while I am there and I am slightly concerned about the amount of people who go there and get tummy bugs. Anyone got any advice?

    I really don’t want to cancel it and go somewhere safer as the resort / hotel looks amazing (http://www.baronhotelsegypt.com/BaronPalmsResort/home.asp if anyone fancies having a look!!) but we would only lose the deposit if we did so it’s not a major problem financially.

    i havent personally heard of any reason why you shouldnt go into pool etc. baron palms is a fab hotel!!
    i guess with food and drinks it would be the same as everyelse you go
    * no ice in drinks
    * only drink bottled water
    * avoid salads (may not be washed in proper water- may not used bottled water to wash the salad stuff)
    * make sure what you eat is hot all the way through etc
    * prob avoid buffet style if at all poss or go to the restaurant 1st thing so you are eating the food that has just ben put out.

    not everyone does get ill. i think its a bit of an urban myth tbh. people arent always careful when on holidays with what thye eat and drink. also egypt can get extremely hot which can make you ill anyway.

    best thing to do would be have a word with mw/gp and see what they say.

    i have sent lots of customers to this hotel and no-one has come back to say it was awful/ food made them sick etc

    also try trip advisor etc see if anyone mentions being sick recently after a visit there

    Hi SJ,

    Glad you appointment went well yesterday! I have never heard about not swimming in the sea when pregnant. I have read that you shouldn't use jacuzzis/saunas, but I think it's due to the risk of overheating which could damage baby.

    I would still go - it looks gorgeous! If it's a high quality hotel, I am sure you will be fine. Just be careful and don't eat anything you think could be dodgy/not cooked thoroughly. If you hear of anyone falling ill from a dirty pool etc whilst you are there, just avoid the pool. The same can happen in Spain etc too though, so no guarantees anywhere else would be safer.

    I understand your concerns as we had planned to go to Cuba but hadn't booked when I found out I was pregnant, and we decided not go go, but then I don't imagine Cuba is quite as advanced as Egypt, and the length of the flight/cost put me off.

    Hope you have a great honeymoon whatever you decide! Enjoy the most of your time together!! x
  • Sarah Joanne - I picked up some food poisoning (in UK - a milkshake from AMT!) and checked with MW. She said it's the dehydration that results from extreme FP (vomiting and diarrhoea) that's potentially dangerous not the being ill itself. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it and just take the usual precautions with food that you would anyway (careful with ice, salad and anything that could be made/in contact with tap water, go for peelable fruits etc). You could avoid swimming but that would be a real shame in the hot weather! (and I'm a bit bah humbug about a lot of the risks - just be sensible - your body's an amazing thing and women have been giving birth for a long time :D )

    a couple of questions:

    1) 18+4 weeks & wife not felt any movement from the baby yet? Is this normal?

    2) Bounty pack - heard a lot about this, but how do i get it? went to the website, and it said midwife will give it to you, but midwife hasn't.

    cheers.
