    ML (or anyone)

What is the difference between the lucozade test and the GTT? I though it was one and the same thing. I went for GTT last Fri (Bloods, lucozade, 2 hours wait then more bloods) and thought it was just one thing? Is there something else I have missed?

Hoping and praying the results are fine as if not, I have to have a hospital birth and I really want to try for a HB. Will find out before this Fri they said so fingers crossed.

Candice, you are very brave for posting your story - thanks xxx

I've got GTT next week - I thought it was same thing but that some people might not remember the name so call it Lucozade test!

    How much is this?

    £ 10000.00

Can't work out if it's ten grand or hundred grand

Candice - thanks for sharing. Hasn't put me off just made me more aware of the fact that you have to make these damn people actually do something if you are worried. Too many cases of MW or drs saying 'it's fine' when It's blatantly not!

Thank you for sharing Candice - I'm so sorry it was so frightening for you, and so glad you seem to be doing so well.

I just found a midwife! She speaks great English, but she has a cat allergy. Fortunately ours is Persian and most allergic people don't react to them, but she's coming to inhale our air and see if she can manage being around him on Monday. I left messages with two more in case of necessity but this one sounds lovely and does all sorts of stuff.

That was the biggest thing on my list for today. It's still raining so I'm not going out to buy (or return) things. Instead I am going to move another box and then take a shower because I smell like someone who has been moving things all day.

Grr - this budget things is really doing my head in...

Right, I know how much I should be getting each month (thanks Glam!) but this is before deductions...and Hubby will be on SPP for two weeks of Aug.

Our bills our about £100 more than hubbys monthly basic salary, but I think we are entitled to the lowest amount of CTC (again, something else on my list to look into!) so about £80 per month  and child benefit, again £80ish per month. So bills are covered.

That leaves my SMP to cover everyday living, food and petrol etc...
The savings need to cover the big expenses:
Sept - Bike Insurance & MOT
Dec - OH Car MOT and home contents insurance
Then my car will need TAX & MOT, but I can't remember which way round they are - one is Jan one is April. So only the Jan bill will needs to be covered from savings cos I'll be back at work in Feb, but will have child care costs to factor in and the possibility of only 4/5 of my wage.

This is silly question...basically, I apply for CTC once the baby's born, right? And then the payments are backdated from birth?

It's NHS pension scheme - would you know?

    Because I earn over £20K then I pay 6.5% instead of 5.5%

GLAM - I actually administer the NHS Pension Scheme too.
Yes you pay your 6.5% on what you receive (e.g. SMP)and the employer will pay on their normal amount (14% on your full pay). You will have to maintain for the 3 months unpaid (if you are taking the full 12 months off) which will be based on the SMP you were receiving just before you went unpaid. This means that you will not lose any service whilst on ML - you pay less for the same benefits.
(you benefit from tax and NI savings)

NMS - I'll see if I can find out anything re Stakeholder pensions (sorry I don't administer these), but there should be something in your terms and conditions.
